Ye, Uta is definitely going to need some personality improvement if she's going to make it far in that school. Luckly, it seems that she has a lot of opportunties ahead.

As far as this episode's content goes, I think it's fine. They introduced some characters, the setting, and gave Uta a purpose. She might be awkward for now but maybe she'll change for the better. Give it time.

I remember Jumondou because of Yuru Yuri and Shin Koihime†Musou: Otome Tairan.

Entertaining start here. I like the cast. Uta is adorable. ^^

Probably the first cappella club ever in anime. That definitely makes this a unique show.

They only produced that show, the only relevant and good thing they've made has been hentai animations lol...

Uta, please stop your pessimistic thoughts and don't look down on yourself. See! You can sing properly when you really try it.

Bocchi the a cappella.

@ajw215799 it amazes me that hidive doesn't automatically pick this up. Every piece of ammunition that they have, they need to use...especially with abema/it's anime chomping at their heels.

@hesaiduhuh HiDive has been an annoying thorn in the side of the anime community since 2022

@Reecey91 Crunchyroll aren’t smart enough to pick up an anime whose premiere date wasn’t announced until 10 days ago

Very polarising episode so I can understand scores all over the place.
First half of the episode was very cliche and cringeworthy, it probably lost half of its potential viewers there.
Second half was actually very good. I will continue watching it.

Yup, I am definitely sticking with this. Uta is so so cute and funny in the first part though it was getting annoying but it was to establish her character so no hate there. The animation is quite good too which is surprising, lol. Airi is so pretty as well. Rei is a cool beauty and Masubu is a kuudere type of beauty? Well, def sticking with it.
And seeing Uta be so pessimistic is funny as hell. 😭😭😭😂 Looking forward to more and the character development she'll definitely be going through in the future.

This has got to be one of the strangest into episodes I have ever seen.

Well, the topic of A cappella music is interning, so I hope they focus on that, rather than weirdness in this first episode.

Here is hoping for an enjoyable musical anime.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Not sure about that first episode, the pacing felt weird, I think partially due to the general lack of music which may have been a stylistic choice to put emphasis on the acapella section. The subtitles being scuffed was a bit annoying but it wasn't serious enough where I had difficulty following the episode. The audio itself did comes across as odd though, I'm chalking this up to the video source being kind of low quality.

the classic "little too shy girl join the group" but this time the subject is pretty original to be honest, is not only another anime music rock band for once !

Comedy was so so so good. I'm like a professional level choir singer so I would rate the singing as pretty weak but overall I love a capella so it's fine as long as I get to hear some. I've basically been following the franchise since it was announced so I'm very happy to get to see all these characters moving and messing around. I'm having a lot of fun watching this show

this is the first a capella anime I know and I think it'll be the only one I'll ever watch. if anyone who isn't familiar with a capella music and got interested because of the anime, I'm sharing the best piece of a capella music in my opinion. it's a great startpoint to get to know more about this fascinating music approach

The presentation feels a bit lackluster, and Uta's chatacter is giving me a weird vibe. And on top of that is my 2nd hand embarrassment whenever someone sings. So a pretty weak hook, but the subject matter is novel enough that I'm willing to see if they'll do a deep dive into capella and do enough character development that it overcomes any downsides (a la Koisuru Asteroid).

Courtesy of music label Pony Canyon and Takuya Yamanaka, this show is defintely the first a cappella-based show thus far.

The nervous-wreck girl of Uta Komaki trying to mask her presence in an all-girls school where characters of all sorts, but she sure gets all of the attention from being literally just that: a dream of wantng to enter the pop music club. And she sure got the chance doing so, but entering her own singing a cappella club through her 2nd Year Senpai Airi Kojo, joined by the likes of her fellow friend Rei "Reirei" Konoe, as well as fellow same 1st-year "Maika from Blend S-lookalike" of Musubu Mayumori.

Uta really wants Lady Luck on her side, but while that disgusts Musubu, she'd be better content once Uta jons the ranks, but it's clear that Uta is scared by her wits to commit and push for her limits. Despite that, Uta being given a chance to show her singing capabilities, and this is a start that definitely has more in store for what's to come.

Unique presentation in its themes, though it still needs cooking.

That is some interesting personality MC have...

I have this massive urge to bully her and make her my little school pet, lol...

(I mean... she was already acting like a little animal the way she just crawls to the Light Music Club every day before she got picked up)

.

So instead of her original goal of joining to play Light Music like the usual school idol. She's gonna end up just singing (and use very little instruments).

TBH, in a way... a cappella club is sorta like a poor-man's version of light music club, since light music club also have singing, but a cappella forgo the usual expensive musical instruments and instrument maintenance costs.

.

Tho a cappella club is great for people that just wants to train their voice for singing (usually one of those stage solo singers with just a single mic and no instruments, whereas the instruments are played by other groups).

I kind of find it strange that most of the girls in the a cappella club have different school uniform variations.

When the show started with a fakeout and we didn't get to hear any singing, I felt a little frustrated. Despite this opening, I think I got really attached to the setting and characters already. I like that despite the simplistic art style (no noses from the front?!), everyone feels very unique.

Uta is very cute though her nervousness is a bit too much at times; she is a little crazy lol. I'm glad she already opened up a little by the end and feels comfortable with at least Airi, so we won't have to suffer through TOO much of her being ... like that lol. The first gag of not wanting to join the club on buddha death day and ripping up the sheet was fun but after that it was a bit much to me.

Musubu is the typical cold type, but it will be fun to see them become closer friends.

Airi is very pretty and laid back but a bit aloof, I like her character a lot already. Makes for a great club leader. I love the pink in her hair too.

I like Reirei's mature style and short hair. She looks very cool, too. Her personality didn't come across as much as the other girls so far, though.

I really like the idea of an acapella club anime. I actually thought this was about light music club from the tiny couple of sentences I read about the premise, then I saw the official YouTube channel and they had lots of acapella music. So I was a bit surprised to see that, then thought maybe it would be about acapella club... then in the beginning she was trying to join light music club... though I'm not even sure what light music / 軽音 means lmao. Anyway, then I was a bit lost, but happy when finally it revealed itself to be about acapella after all!

I really look forward to the rest. But it will have to kind of step up to be good... first impression is NICE but if it stays at this pace it will not be great.

I did feel it was a little cringe like when she was crawling around on the ground with the blanket, but I feel like overall the episode won me over... thankfully I stayed for the end. I feel like almost any high school club anime is super cliche so it was to be expected, I guess the crawling gag was how they were trying to stand out?? LOL
