I'm probably not the only one thinking about this but do you think after the series concludess as in The End, are we in for a prequel series or just an hour long OVA?

"Manga readers are annoying, all they do is complain or spoil the anime we discuss in an anime forum.

There’s not need for a prequel since the whole point of the series is to be after the end of the original journey. Also, there’s plenty of flashbacks which explore the past.

I understand why people say no prequel is necessary and i agree that it isn't necessary but i also dont think there would be any harm in doing an ova. it would just be a bit of fun on the side and it wouldn't have to cover the whole decade but just one of the many stories they lived during it. I personally would watch it as i think it would be fun to see and if you don't care for it you wouldn't need to watch it as it isnt canon to the story.

I personally dont mind a prequel OVA or something as such!! But they are showing us glimpses from their journey in flash backs which I find satisfactory enough.

There's no need for prequel, Prequel will only make this anime lost its nostalgic element.

Everywhere Frieren revisits and her memories of her adventure shows us her previous adventure. Depending on how you look at it, the series shows us both of her adventures in parallel.

Honestly would be cool to see a full on prequel to see a lot more of the hero party’s journey, but I also won’t be mad or upset if it never happens. There are a bunch of times we get a look into the past and see a lot of flashbacks, and I’m fine with that. Makes those moments more meaningful.

A Silmarillion Style of story that explore the entire lore of the world from the beginning from the goddes and serie times to flamme and finally frieren times would be neat.

No need for a prequel, coz we have many anime that concludes on Happy Ending.
But this may be the first which starts from Happy Ending.
The popularity of this anime will only decrease after prequels.

Absolutely not. It isn’t necessary for the story at all. The entertainment industry as a whole is over saturated with that type of content that does nothing but capitalize on the original work while adding nothing of value. Let’s appreciate and be content with what we have and leave it be.

Only if it's a prequel about Frieren before joining the hero party and what she did in the ~1000 years after Flamme's death.
No, this isn't my signature.

most of it will literally be repetitive bro
there's no point in that
it'll be like a recap movie for the anime

if you catch up to the last 2 or 3 manga chapters , technically that's a prequel.

@Janethan23 The anime is about the heroes journey. What would a prequel show? I mean every great once in a while they even show a flash back to give it more depth. I think a prequel in this case would be more like a recap of the episodes.

the entire 10 year adventure with the party of heroes most likely isn't going to be covered in the manga so no, it wont be repetitive. also again like its fine if you dont want it, all im saying is that its not gonna do any harm to have either. like if u dont wanna watch it u would simply just not have to watch it lol

bro i get what you're trying to say but trust me on this they cover a LOT of the hero's journey

sure it's not like they cover every little detail but most of the bigger events are covered. if they do make what you want, then it will become something like a SOL/Comedy with action (like gintama) but where the action sequences are are already covered in the main anime hence taking away half the appeal of that show.

A prequel would defeat the purpose of the story. Frieren is unique because it doesn't tell that "prequel" story. Besides the prequel seems to be embedded into the story.

Even tho I would like to have a prequel about Frieren's life after Flamme's death and before meeting Hero.

A prequel wouldn’t really add anything to the story. We already get a pretty good idea what each hero’s party member is like through the flashbacks and their intra-party dynamic.

prequel would be cool but the thing is that this season currently airing is focused around frieren becoming more apathetic and less of the stoic Elf she was beforehand. so while the heros journey would be kinda cool, frieren would be like a shell of what we have come to know. So because of that I think a prequel centered around Flamme would be a good watch. The prequel could be entirely before Flamme even meets Frieren, or meeting frieren during the prequel, or even with flamme meeting frieren at the very end of the show. I think that would be a better watch. although I wouldn't mind seeing the frieren/himmel interactions, it really seems like the old frieren wouldn't really bring much to the table unless we could see more frieren the slayer

Future episodes will have more flash backs so no point in a prequel, it’s sourced from manga.

Why? it's about the character processing loss and searching for meaning. We know that doesn't happen in the past. Why can't people just leave good things as they are instead of milking the dry and killing them off?

You couldn't have any character growth though so it'd feel like an empty and shallow story. There's enough of those already in anime so just go and watch one of them.

I understand what you all are saying but this is about after the series has concluded the chances of it ruining it a.k.a spoilers are farfetched since it would be more of "Oh, so that's how they did it." type of prequel.

I for one wanted to see Frieren's first encounter with Aura. I want to see more of her, too bad all that power got to her head.

Who knows, this prequel might happen years later.

No, I don’t think a prequel to this series is necessary; the flashbacks does explain Frieren’s past journey with Himmel and the crew.

Don’t mean to be off-topic; the manga is still ongoing, so maybe they could either be a spin-off story of Stark and Fern years later or Frieren with new companions in the far future.

A story of Frieren living 1,000 or 2,000 years later could be created.

Like the classic Japanese sci-fi manga ''Chojin Locke(Locke the Superman)''
