when hearing discussions about this show, there was one notable thing ive heard about it and that the MC is apparently is a chad and the best part about this series rather than the actual harem itself, while that being the case, discussions here don't usually put their focus on the MC and instead on other things such as the girls or the episode overall, so I may as well ask this straight up too see what everyone thinks.

personally I like how he's handled so far but definitely would love to see more, he seems to be smart when it comes down to many situations such as intentionally eating all of those sandwiches in order to avoid unnecessary conflict. I also like how his honestly best reflects what kind of character he is, with him being said honest, moments where talks to the girls feel more believable rather than a typical MC who would say it because "hes nice" or whatever, yet he's not trying to be nice, he isn't trying to compliment them and give them approval, instead he speaks with what he truly believes in, not giving comfort but instead his view on the situation, and he genuinely sounds very smart in doing so(for example with Ami in the latest ep, instead of helping her out with her problems, he gives her a harsh dose of reality, but at the same time he gives his own insight on what could really be the issue with her loss).

This layer of honesty also personally helps me out in making the girls' love for Hayato believable for me, cause with that added layer alongside the insight he gives both providing a sense of reality and feedback, definitely helps out in making the girls falling for him more believable to think about.

Additionally, him not being:

-Horny
-Unattractive
-Annoying
-A Wimp
-"Nice"
-A Pushover

helps cause instead he is:

-Arguably Attractive
-Smart in situations & conversations
-Honest

so that's definitely a plus in helping me consider this as one of the more believable harems out there.

Despite this I definitely would love to see more of him shine, I know a good couple of snippets that are in the manga that i've seen that definitely show himself as a chad, and even with a couple of those chad moments shown in the anime so far, I am still itching for a couple more moments with him, so hopefully with the start of the Akane arc next episode we will get to see more of him, but for now, I personally really like him as an MC, definitely like him more than most of the other harem protagonists out there.

But what do you guys think about our MC Hayato? you guys think he's a good protagonist or do you think of him differently compared to how I view him?

Hayato is shown to have a big ego and high confidence. He is a straightforward and rude person who often uses harsh words without any exaggeration. He truly believes in equality, and for that, he will not use honorifics like san for others, no matter if they are older or in a high standing. Having a stern and cold expression most of the time, he is narcissistic enough to make comments that could infuriate the other party which shows he does not like when someone tries to look down upon him and would never stop to get back at them. Despite this, Hayato is truly a good person deep down and will apologize if he had done anything wrong towards those close to him. Since being raised by his grandmother Sachiko, she was like his world, and loved her more than anyone else, therefore he would never tolerate someone badmouthing or which makes her look bad. Thus in order to give her a luxurious life, Hayato, self-centered as he was, entered Tokyo U and not realizing what shackles his grandmother had to face just for his own sake. When he returned to the café, he initially decided to demolish it, but the memories and livelihood of his time with Sachiko causes him to have a change of heart and takes the role of the café manager now working on returning to its former glory. After meeting the girls, he came to know how kind his grandmother was and so he begins treating them as family, though a bit more tough. He is often called "Sachiko's Grandson" as he took over most of her traits from her.

Usually Hayato can maintain his cool, but momentarily loses his composure when agitated and faced with unfavorable circumstances. He also initially did not like getting involved with other people's problems, finding them to be troublesome, but if push comes to shove he would earnestly help them and tactfully solve the problems and situations. Though he has high self-esteem, he readily acknowledges that there are some things that he cannot do and would ask for help from others and is knowledgeable enough in knowing what to say in specific situations when they are thrown at him, rarely giving up when trying to achieve a specific objective. As a sharp person, he can read people's intentions, putting his guard up, but as soon he feels comfortable, he would put it down. He is even capable of holding his emotions if the situation calls for it.

Surprisingly, though he is not used to girls, he never backs down from them with his usual attitude. Out of the all characters, he is the most impressive negotiator and usually manages the internal affairs of the café. Because of his rightful personality, the Familia girls fall in love with him and he himself, not being dense, can see that but makes the café the first priority. For that he is not a late-bloomer in any way, but he is quite indecisive as shown after he holds off responses to Riho's and Akane's confessions, though he becomes annoyed and embarrassed by their constant advances towards him. Ironically, he believes in gender equality so he would use physical attacks/punishment on the opposite sex, especially against Ami who often gives him trouble

I think he is a very good harem protagonist, especially if compared to others in the genre.
He might be a bit of a pushover in first two episodes, but he endured that abuse like a chad. But that's in the past now now.

I have no opinion because I don't watch this show for the main guy, I watch it for the panty shots, sexy scenes and the chicks

Yeah, he is not your typical harem mc.
1) Most Harem MCs are oblivious that they are someone's love interest to the extent that it is painful to watch.
2) He is not a wimp and has a backbone. He takes his decisions himself and is not led by the girls in a constant game of tug of war.
3) He is not horny. Most of the protags are shown in their school or college days, which makes it easier for anime to label them as a horny teenager, which makes it hellava annoying. This mc takes care of the girls instead of letting his horny take over.
4) He is smart. While he may not have realized that the girls are in love with him, he treats every girl with caution and is trying his best to maintain that familial bond.

-Tohka is better than Kurumi. You can't change my mind.

He’s not dense, understands when he’s in the wrong and takes action to resolve the situation. He’s a very grounded character who stays true to his goal no matter the situation. I like his character honestly, glad he’s not some perverted, idiotic mc who’s obnoxious to literally everything.

He gets along with his harem, which I think is good. Most MC's in such kind of works are mostly very overwhelmed and have a hard time or are classic pervy MC's. I don't really have anything against him, except that I don't like his character design with the blue hair.

He may have a sharp tongue like ouka and can be a bit rude at times, but he's not a pushover like most main characters when it comes to the five girls, and throughout the episodes he's honest and is not one to beat around the bush when it comes to anybody including the girls. he's also knows when to ask for help if there's something he can't do. and he doesn't get flustered when it comes to the five girls and treats them as he would treat anyone else. so overall I like his character so far in the show.

Not usually a fan of the harem trope since most MCs out there are total trash, unlikeable, and wimp that makes me think how any girl could even fall for him...  Hayato on the other hand, is a breath of fresh air as he at least has some balls on him, willing to stand up for himself and the girls. Plus he actually gets shit done. In other words, his a chad :)
