It seems like a waste to not watch such a highly anticipated and promising arc simply because i didnt watch the original bleach (too damn long), is there anything i need to know before watching *instead* of watching the original* or if i should leave it out?

It a sequel, you have to watch the original before watching this one. If you watch bleach without filler it is nearly half the length. It’s still long, but not as long as it seems.

I don't get why people want to skip certain parts of a story all the time. Watch the original and if you don't like it then you probably won't like this either. The anime is pretty decent animation wise but you can Quickly catch up with the manga and then stop after fullbringers to watch this arc in anime form.
As Long as the Sun, the moon, and the Earth exist, everything will be alright.

It's a direct sequel from Fullbringer arc, the last arc from previous Bleach anime, so if you decide to skip it, you will lose a lot of enjoyment.

Watch episode without fillers or you won't understand a thing I'm watching bleach my self currently. I am at ep 65 and believe me this anime has more than 150 fillers so it's a short one too (considering others two of big 3).

Watch it it on zoro if you want to avoid fillers as it shows the fillers with different colour

Bleach is one of the easiest shows to grind, there are filler arcs pretty much after every good arc, you for this

reas the manga bro is shorter cause you can't watch the last arc if the series without watching the series first; you're gonna see a bunch of power ups and not knowing why

You can probably easily finish all past bleach before this even starts Airing, even if you don't you can finish all past bleach before this finishes Airing. And it is definetly a bad idea to skip parts, you will miss much!

I watched the final Saint Seiya OVA without watching the show. The Hades Arc was an entertaining time. I didn't really know who was who so a lot was lost in translation but if you watch enough anime, you know who fills what roles.

Bleach has a lot more characters than Saint Seiya, I would imagine, but Tite Kubo abandons characters more than almost anyone else. So all you need to really know is the MC and the soul society captains. Plus 3 or 4 other people. You will be fine.

But if you don't get the hype, or why other people are more excited than you as you watch the show, that's gonna be your fault for not making time to get to love these characters. This isn't Naruto part 2 or Dragonball part 2. This is the fourth ninja war arc or the Vegito reveal without knowing who Vegeta even is.

Or more accurately, the Chairman election arc without knowing who Gon is or why people are so upset because you didn't watch his journey.

The choice is yours.

Reading the manga is not that hard the art is better and the pacing is better I started reading it at the beginning of September (watched it years ago had to get a refresher) and I’m already on chapter 354 the last arc before the one the anime is adapting is 479.

Also you had 2 to 3 years to watch it they announced this 3 years ago if I remember correctly.

MAL users not understanding what a sequel is will never cease to amaze me. It’s the same with all the people posting “can i watch Shippuden without watching naruto?” like no??? it’s a sequel which means it’s following the story of its prequel. i suppose you could watch it if you really feel like it but you’re not gonna understand anything because that’s not how you consume content.

Ofc you can if you watch it for the fights only, but you won't understand some parts of the story and most importantly about the characters (which is bleach's strongest point imo as there's a LOT and almost all of them are great)

There's still couple weeks to catch up if you have lot of free time, anime if not just manga until 479

There are many animes too damn long and too damn good at the same time and bleach is one of them too. If you watched it without watching original series you will not enjoy as much as others who have seen the og series. You are just watching watching because the name of the anime THOUSAND YEAR BLOOD WAR sounds cool and the animation from the trailer is promising.

also refusing to watch anime series is because of the length is the worst argument. You will probably never come accross other really good series only because you will skip them because of length.
Personally episode number is not a problem look at naruto and hunterxhunter are both in top 10 with 100+ episodes while naruto is even more longer than hunter×hunter with 720 episodes but is still more popular than hunterxhunter and other short animes because watching long shows isn't hard. These long shows are like a music just play them and they just keep passing and you won't even feel bored. I also started bleach after watching the trailer of this arc and have finished upto episode 366 before the release you can do it too if you clear your brain that I can't watch this anime only because it is too damn long

Its a sequel, you wont rly understand how any of the powers work nor the characters relationships plus old bleach is great, i know it May seem rly long but you can find a guide online to skip filler episodes and save you like 120 eps worth of time.

When youre done i do recomend going back and watching zanpakuto's past filler tho its Quick and very enjoyable

You should watch orginal from starting there is a lot of time no need to rush. This anime last arc consist of almost 50 episodes and it will release on weekly basis that's almost an year so take your time watch orignal slowly till u finished that you will have lot of episodes already present for you to watch.
