Since each part is consisted of 3 episodes and the BDs will release simultaneously it's more like a 6 episode OVA that's also shown in theaters. So no long wait.

When I read this again, I did say that it sounds pretty OVA-ish but I'm glad to hear that this is indeed the case....Hoping the wait isn't too long like you said then

Yeah, Gundam Unicorn and Space Battleship Yamato 2199 remake were released in pretty much same way.

Raws should be out within a day or two and hopefully someone immediately takes it up to sub it.

Wait what happened to Signal.MD doing this? And is this new studio under the I.G Port umbrella also?

Anyway... this looks exciting, bet there will be a lot of legendary Akira OG animators like there was in Dennou Coil, I just hope it doesn't flop financially as well.

Fuminori Honda who was an animation producer at Signal.MD is in charge of this project. A lot of time has passed since this project was greenlit at Signal.MD and in that time things changed and Honda decided to quit Signal.MD and establish his own studio, that is Productio +h. With him, the project itself moved from Signal.MD to now his new studio.

They are independent studio and not under Production I.G. Though I guess it's possible that the Production I.G is a member of the production committee for the show since the project got greenlit and funds most likely acquired while it was still at Signal.MD?

The animation producer behind this project founded the new studio so they transferred it there. The people working there seem to be from IG Port but an independent company from them otherwise.

Thanks, I can't believe I missed that lol
So Signal MD still have 4 other Animation Producers, I didn't think they were that big.

Wow, finally. How long's it been since the first announcement, a good few years, I think?

Very good to hear that it'll have simultaneous home release, that's a godsend for us in the west.
Well I for one already loved Lain.
