Have you noticed a slight change in the artstyle after Marley arc has ended? I am talking about designs of the characters. While Marley arc had art very similar to the artstyle used in the manga, the current arc seems to be different a bit in terms of how all characters look like, resembling more like a hybrid between how they looked liked in the manga and how Wit made them look like back when they were responsible for AoT anime adaptation. |

No no, I didn't mean that it felt different, but that it actually looked different than in the previous episodes and in Wit's adaptation. The artstyle of characters seemed to me like a hybrid between old Wit's style and the new style used by MAPPA, making characters look similar to how they look like in the manga. |

It seems as if the darkness is on purpose, to perhaps reduce the workload. They used the same technique in the Libero raid, making everything dark so as to not have too much to work on for backgrounds, and to blend in the CGI more easily, making it hard to notice. I expected the lighting to be similar to the Levi v Annie fight, but it seems like the entire scene will have a dark green-ish atmosphere. Honestly, I'm cool with it as long as we can clearly see what's happening on the screen. |

They already have a long list of issues to fix based on public reception, and a very short time to fix all that for the release. Lighting was NOT a common complain among most. Most complaints lied with the CGI, and chubby character models. On top of that, fixing the lighting, might be easy to do if they just colour corrected some stuff, but major corrections are pretty difficult to do, as fixing the lighting frame by frame is very time consuming work. |

Can someone enlighten me how exactly the production works? The overall quality of season 4 is nearly the same like season 3 (animation quality) but WIT put the resources in the important Moments. Apparently vercreek only worked for ep 8 with the lobov scene which was good. And he also said that this was the only available scene. Levi vs zeke round 2 was good no question and the whole forest moment was done justice but why can’t they properly put the resources more in moments when it’s needed like letting vervreek do a Levi vs zeke cut instead of the lobov scene? Or do you think vervreek wouldn’t want to animate Levi vs zeke? |

for normal average anime 1 year of all production is good enough but this is Attack on Titan that everything takes 3 times the work compared to normal average anime like this one Cleaning up one frame in AOT took 3 times the amount it takes me to do a frame in any other anime, worth it though https://twitter.com/zeido__/status/1355934880912318468 |

@iannFDL yep this season should have been given 2 years of production time and not just this 1 year they gave it EDIT: -> Director Cao, one last question here, when are you informed by Mappa to join the final season AOT production? Cao: That was on December last year (Dec 2019) when I am still working on Dorohedoro. -> Dorohedoro aired on Jan 2020, did you guys finish all the 12 episodes production at that time (Dec 2019) already? Cao: No, we haven't finish all 12 episodes making, we only started making ep 10 not long ago at that time -> Omg so you basically working on dorohedoro and aot production at the same time, is your liver alright? Cao: Loss some hairs, not bald yet, yeah liver is suffering 😂 https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1872030&show=5950#msg61311292 Hinako9 deleted much of the interviews with some chinese staff but here is one there Mr Cao the director of episode 6 said they started working for like 1 year only with Attack on Titan final season |

I can't get why season 4 get so much hate for the animation. Sure it is a downgrade, but imo just from a 10/10 to a 7-8/10. The most people doen't like the CGI what I can understand, but in cases of cinematography this season ist good as previous seasons, imo. Another thing is, since when everything is about animation? Since Demons Slayer? Just look at Monster... the animation is damn bad, even for this year, but this Anime lives from the insane Story and characters... like AoT. AoT is a shounen, but not a typical fighting shounen... the most highlights and hyping scenes of this anime are not only fights or powerups... it is the huge amount of amazing tiwsts and turns, great character developement and insane worldbuilding. I can unterstand every person who wishes the animation would be like in previous season, me too... but if we not got this adaption we would never got one. MAPPA was the only studio who trys to produce the last season... so I am very thankful, that this masterpiece get an full adaption. But as I said, it's just my opinion. |

Editing is not really the right way to describe it, I think. It kind of undermines the effort that the person put in. He literally drew over the original, changed proportions, and painted light on top. It would be also be respectful if you provided a source to the original, instead of just reposting the person's work without credit. Coming to this, the biggest difference is that WIT always had a 3 lighting colour scheme most of the time. Meaning, if you look at WIT's adaptation, you will find that every character is coloured with their original skin colour, a shadow colour, and a highlight colour. It makes them more detailed and an overall more pleasing aesthetic. Season 2 took this even further with many still shots almost looking like paintings, to the point you could use a screenshot as a poster. In Season 4, the highlight colour has been removed, and characters are coloured using 2 colours most of the time, their original skin colour, and a shadow colour. This is obviously a time saving measure, more than anything else. However, it is common in most anime. Even WIT's own Vinland Saga rarely has the 3 lighting colour scheme. It's a detailed art style, which is an exception in anime, instead of the norm. |

Are you one of those who lick Mappa's boots? the mappa studio is complete shit (I mean the producers, the animators who strive for everything are the best people in the world to endure working there). Obviously, tell me, who in their right mind would agree to animate an anime in just 8 months? because remember, no studio wanted to do it since it was impossible, but of course, the mappa production committee would have thought "oh, the shitty AOT fans will swallow everything we give them", of course, because they are only guided by the money, they don't give a shit if you like how it's adapted, or if I don't like how it looks, their only reason for accepting the project was money, what a great studio, right? We should be grateful for that, right? wait, i'm not done yet, mappa was animating many other animes, so why accept another project? because like all animation studios, the only thing that moves their stupid asses is money, but mappa is the most shit I've seen. and also remember, we are talking about shingeki no kyojin, an anime recognized worldwide, which had very high expectations, with fans who asked for something incredible, and although the animation is good and the cgi is the best I have seen, it is very below what was wit. And finally, which is what culminated everything: the trailer that was animated with a fucking good animation, and that showed several scenes from this season that looked incredible, everyone excited about this, right? well, we all know what happened. It was all a lie, they took the time to show us a trailer of which we will never have that animation, at least the study that ex-arm encouraged showed us in its first trailer how the anime would look, sincerity above all. And maybe I have mentioned it, but here the only ones who suffer are the animators, those who have to put up with some shitty bosses, working inhuman hours, our great animation studio, right? Now tell me, lick mappa boots, are you grateful that they brought something that literally no one in the world desperately asked for and that we were all willing to wait for it to have a decent production?Another thing is, since when everything is about animation? Now tell me, lick mappa boots, are you grateful that they brought something that literally no one in the world desperately asked for and that we were all willing to wait for it to have a decent production?Another thing is, since when everything is about animation? |

The most people doen't like the CGI what I can understand, but in cases of cinematography this season ist good as previous seasons, imo. But as I said, it's just my opinion. i mean of course they care about money, they are a company. Thats what companies do. They follow money. In the case of aot the money would be higher since they got into the production committee and most likely kodansha gave them a bit more budget since they wanted the season to be done faster. I get why people are angry but thats another problem of our society, things work based on money. Aot does not deserve any special treatmen since it is another manga promotion. We were lucky that we got a studio like wit (btw they worked to death their staff as well but since the product is good no one cares) and got a 10/10 adaptation. Sadly those times are over and we have to get over it. We cant do (at least i think we cant do) anything but hope for a better schedule for the next part, if there is one. |

I can’t get over ep 14, that was the best Levi fight and it was butchered in the anime. What a waste |
Attack on Titan ended with chapter 123 and 130/131 is the epilogue |

these are few pictures of them, but anyway most of them are disappointed and think the same as us (JJK is better). there are few people who don't care and say mappa is good enough though. there's also a lot in 5chan.but i didn't post any from there some guy said this is mappa level of animation because JJK was made by freelancers due to Park's connections lol. its google translate, but you can get the gist. original = manga/S1 (the first comment) i think maybe i should make a separate thread when the season ends, who knows |

Yeah its on yaraon-blog.com (ANN and Crunchyroll use it as source sometime) its pretty popular blog in the japan anime fandom,it also publishes BD sales (which someanithing takes from i think) twitter are a different breed honestly, most of the aot fandom there don't even care about the story they just care about who gets to fuck who (western ones, idk about jp) |

Awesomeness_1307 said: sorry to say this but chances of them changing anything about the cgi in ep 6 , (or in any eps )are very low . As far as i can tell , that episode played out like they had planned . the ep director was a chinese cg animator and he was put in that spot for a reason . the only person who can confirm this for us is @hinako49 ,but he isnt here anymore...... i would say the most changes you can expect are for the out of model drawings , some of the lighting and shadings , and if you are being really optimistic maybe some inbetweening work. The blu-ray has been delayed. https://twitter.com/AoTWiki/status/1380084337287163906 This is good news perhaps? The first half of part 1 has been delayed a few weeks longer than the second half, so, I'm expecting decent improvements to episode 6. Possibilities: 1) This delay is because they have been improving it all this time and want to make it as good as possible. They grasp how popular this show is, and have taken all the criticism into consideration, and hence want to polish it as much as they can. 2) The staff has been so busy on other projects all this time that they haven't had time to work on the blu-ray at all. They've just started heavily working on it. Conclusion: They definitely do care about the blu-ray, and I think it's safe to expect that it'll look a bit better than the TV version, otherwise they wouldn't have gone through the hassle of postponing it. If they really didn't care, they would just release the TV version as is. When I say 'they', I refer to whoever makes decisions regarding the blu-ray, most probably the production committee. |
