What is the worst anime dub you have ever seen? For me, the worst anime dub has got to be the 4Kids One Piece dub. Seriously, that was just straight-out horrendous and it isn't even funny in the slightest at all either. |

I don't know which dub I've heard is objectively the worst, but by far, my least favorite is Steins;Gate's dub which I know is likely a controversial opinion, but I really just can't stand it. |

I dont watch dubs because in general almost all of the ones I have seen are terrible compared to the original but I have heard a lot of hate about the DBZ dubs not sure if its certain arcs or series but I have heard they actually change dialogue to better suit the NA audience etc and I even heard they changed dialogue to help match the mouth movements in the animation. I assume there has to be some truth to it because the Over 9000 memes are from the dub because that isnt what is said in the original Japanese dialogue. |

Excluding dubs that were just hilariously bad like Ghost Stories, I"ll go with any dub that consists of VAs having to voice any cute/moe characters. |

The dub itself isn't controversial; my negative opinion of it is. The dub, as far as I can tell, is rather beloved and is general brought up when people ask about what some of the best dubs are. I personally just really don't like most if not all of the performances in it and hate how the script was adapted into English. |

The dub from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. It is not bad but it is so insanely censored.... The sub is very superior! I also don’t watch dub anymore, anime at it’s purest in Japanese is way better. |

Not gonna lie the original dub for DBZ is garbage XD. While it has it moments the dub as a whole is really bad. Frieza is especially bad in the original dub. Linda Young was a terrible choice for Frieza and I am so glad she was replaced. What blows my mind is that you will find so many people defending this dub and shitting the more recent (and far superior) dub of DBZ Kai. Like I don't understand how you can watch these two clips and tell me the old one is better. |

Fucking Angel Cop has the absolute worst dubs I have ever heard: 1) Because some of the voices sound fucking ridiculous and 2) The movie has some of the stupidest lines that make me want to punch my screen- most of the said lines coming from the main female character who is one of my most hated female anime characters ever: Angel. |

I assume there has to be some truth to it because the Over 9000 memes are from the dub because that isnt what is said in the original Japanese dialogue. I agree, that particular dubbing was garbage but just wanted to give some clarification. The DBZ original dubs don't actually say over 9000, over 9000 comes from a separate dubbing that isn't considered the final main dub, called the Ocean dub. This was used on Cartoon Network and was a highly censored and underwhelming dub (possibly my least favorite of all time, they recast the VA's multiple times, and the end of the show cast was better than the starting cast, but in all honesty, it was still pretty garbage. The DBZkai dub, however, which was done in 2009, was considerably better than both, and is an actually really well-done dub (one of my favorites). Saying the original DBZ dubs are bad is widely agreed upon since the Ocean dub was garbage from beginning to end, but DBZKai/ DBS are actually shows that people actually often prefer the dub, partially because the sub uses Goku's voice from the original DB which is very high pitched (his Kid Goku voice) and does not match a full-grown adult who is insanely strong. Well, that and the fact that Chris Sabbat (mainly known as Vegetas voice actor) is absolutely amazing in the Kai/Super dubs, and voice acts like 20 characters in the show (piccolo, Yamcha, Shenron, etc) and does them all uniquely and well. I can ignore how unfitting Goku's voice is in the sub, but Chris Sabbat makes the dub worth watching for me. That being said, I will probably watch the sub when DBS returns, because I do not have the patience for the dubbed episodes to come out, and the sub isn't terrible by any means. |

I didn't watch any of the anime on my list dubbed, but from some videos on youtube the DBZ english dub kinda hurts me. In brazilian portuguese(I'm from Brazil) Magical Knight Rayearth was bad. Couldn't go past the first 5 minutes of episode 1. The dubs here tend to be good, but this one, oh boy... |

OK, first off, for those of you that do not watch dubs: YOUR OPINION DOES NOT MATTER Like, this is my main beef...the people that talk trash on dubs, they don't actually know what an actually bad dub sounds like...and trust me, it's worse than ghost stories. Watch the entirety of Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer or Saikano. Shit like that was prevalent in the 90s, and THAT'S the reason opinions like yours exist TODAY...for IRRELEVANT reasons. I can list more. I mean I can keep going. I like to list "Those Who Hunt Elves", "Sorcerer Hunters", "Project A-Ko", "Amazing Nurse Nanako" as more average dubs for the time...and those were relatively popular...if the ones getting actual air time being commercialized in magazines etc were that bad, I mean, just think about the obscure ones. Dubs were in their infancy, of course only the mainstream anime got the best dubs. Today there are no bad dubs, and yall are some insane wannabes trying to be cool about a medium that's already generally cringe. IT'S ANNOYING. GROW UP. |

Most of them hate on dubs just because they are dubbed, with no real reason other than trying to seem cool. However, there are definitely some bad dubs out there even recently. The Quintessential Quintuplets dub felt cringey and honestly gets really bad at some points, the To Love-Ru dubs that recently came out are really bad, and the Oregairu dubs, although not absolute garbage, gets really bad some episodes, and the Chuunibyou dub was pretty bad too. That being said, there are shows with amazing dubs. Certain ones that stand out are Death Note (Probably my favorite dub) Naruto, Toradora, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, A silent voice, DBZKai, and plenty of others have good dubs. I can't go to the point to say all dubs are good just yet though. Although, it can be argued that these dubs are not as bad as I'm saying and its just that these dubs cant be compared to their subbed counterparts. |

The "worst" dubs I've heard to this days would be: English: - The Dub of Detective Conan . I have not really seen/heard a whole lot of English dubs, but of the ones I've heard the English Dub of Detective Conan is by far the worst. When compared to the Japanese and the German Dub, the English one pales even more. Japanese: - The Dub of Death Note . The VA performance is not bad at all they all do a really good job, but the voices don't really fit, especially Ryuk he sounds way to nice and Misa's voice is a bit to annoying. I like the German Dub the most followed by the English, the Japanese Dub is "the worst" (again not really bad, just unfitting voices) in my opinion. This is also the only anime where I think the Jap-Dub isn't best of all the dubs I've heard, usually the Jap-Dub is miles ahead of the others but this is the only exception. German: - The Dub of Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut . Not so much the VA, but the dialogue. The dialogue is so bad it makes the whole thing unwatchable. |

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi! I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom: "Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news. Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people. Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation. There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime. You should be watching Carole & Tuesday." |

Tokyopop’s English dub of Initial D is bloody awful, you had characters names either shortened for e.g Takumi is Tak, or Westernised for e.g Iketani is Cole. And then you had the iconic Eurobeat soundtrack removed in favour of a generic rap soundtrack just for the sole purpose of appealing to a Western audience who are more into the Fast & Furious movies and thus wouldn’t have any interest in Japanese style media, which has turned out to be a lot of bullshit in the end. And yes, 4Kids dubs is bloody awful too, but sadly I as well as many others grew up with them, so you kinda stick to them in the end. |

Probably all DIC dubs. They did Sailor Moon real dirty. They changed a lesbian relationship into a friendship through cousins. Dammit, DIC. Also they did Saint Seiya dirtier. They changed the awesome metal intro to a lame cover of a Canadian song, recolored blood blue and called it "mystical energy", Seiya sounds like a whiney white guy, they cut out all the violence, reworked the scripts, and that's why Saint Seiya never got the love and recognition it deserved in the USA and Canada. |
