Dropped anime shows up as Plan to Watch.

I've noticed over the last couple of 2-3 seasons that items I add as "Dropped" show up as "Plan to Watch" at a later date. This happens with titles that I mark as Dropped before the season starts.

This is super confusing and frustrating to me when a new show starts and it errantly looks like it was something I'm interested in because it's now marked as Plan to Watch.

Why do you put shows as dropped if they haven't even aired yet and you cant have seen a single episode? Isn't it better to just wait until it starts airing or just not add it in the list at all?

On mine, it has changed twice the status of the Hori-san to Miyamura-kun OVA from "Completed" to "Watching". It is the second time that this has happened.

There is an upcoming Hori-san to Miyamura-kun TV series and I am wondering if someone is adding information and altering something on the page of the new series and it is somehow affecting the OVA page.

Good question.

"Not Interested" has been requested multiple times as a list status for items in the past but has never been implemented. The "solution" I read from the forums years ago was to put items into Dropped.

The reason I want this such a feature is because I often spend a good amount of time reading reviews, sometimes watching previews, etc. to decide if I'm interested in a show or not. If I'm not interested I want to mark that show because it will come up on my radar again and I don't want to waste my time repeating the process.

Makes sense. If going only by seasonal, you can add those you want to watch in the plan to watch list and those that does not interest you, can be put in like the "on-hold" list?
What happens if you have them on that On-Hold list instead? Then move to dropped when it has started.

Otherwise, you can just make an excel-file on your pc and add them there. Easy to search an anime in it. I have one similar for every anime I watched. Even if I have it here on mal.

But, interests can change in the future, which is why I wouldn't want a "not interested mark" since then I'd barely check them up. I've found plenty of good anime that way years after I totally ignored it, or maybe even dropped.
For example, I dropped Kaguya-sama after 3 episodes since it didn't click with me. Later came back, watched it and gave it an 8/10.

There will be two new HoriMiya OVA episodes released later this year. (And the ads explicitly label them as episodes #5 & #6, so it's not just MAL lumping them together.)
