Hello,

I'm looking for anime focusing on cute boys, but aren't explicitly BL. E.g. the cast is mostly male. To make things a bit harder, I'm looking for non-sports anime. The more silce-of-life-ish/wholesome the better. I wish I could give examples but I haven't watched much anime like this.
The kind of anime I'm looking for has a female demographic but male characters. And you can deviate from these criteria, I'm trying to cast a wide net after all

Thanks.

Nijiro Days fits your criteria perfectly.

I'll recommend Tsuritama as well. It is tagged as sports, and while they do spend a lot of time fishing it's not really 'professional' as in going to tournaments and such. It focuses more on the characters and their relationships than the actual sport aspect.

Idolish 7 for sure. It's the best Idol Boy show and the character designs are gorgeous :>

The Daily Lives of High School Boys. Top-notch comedy; my female anime club members all love it to death. xD

Chuubyou Gekihatsu Boys Another really funny comedy; the MC is female but I don't think there's romance?

Fruits Basket-there are girls but the cast is MOSTLY male and they are all hot haha REALLY wholesome slice-of-life content too...

I suspect woman would consider these guys cute, and It's a slice of life/drama kind of thing, but I don't know if I would call it wholesome lmao(yea definitely not on the wholesome side of things).

Hanasakeru Seishounen

PS. There's really no such thing as a wholesome anime anyway.

Kimi to Boku, Tsuritama (mentioned above), Ouran high school host club, Oofuri is full of endearing boys but it is sports, No. 6 (shounen ai) and you can probably find more in all reverse harems.
I don't know why people write that they are approachable persons,
if you were you wouldn't be on MAL.

Extended families or lovers on MAL are a farce.

That's really not true at all. Family-themed anime are EXTREMELY wholesome and pure.

Ok lets talk about family friendly anime shall we lol Those sick Japanese consider Kemono no souja erin as family friendly. lets see, it hhas

someone trying to force a inicent girl into a incestral relationship

It has a extremely graphical representation of creating a baby(hentai would be less graphical then this in some ways) The Japanese are insane, if this is how they teach the birds and the bees lol

It has political intrigue

It has a execution with a very graphical presentation of such(no blood, but this will surely give kids nightmares).

Another one I believe is well consider to be wholesome, is Fruits Basket. That Zodiac family have some truly twisted monters in it, which has some equally dark scenarios going on.

You bring up two titles and then declare that makes your generalization 'there is no wholesome anime' valid?

Lol no. And being wholesome doesn't mean NO dark content at all; it means it makes you feel good in the long run and Fruits Basket does EXACTLY that with most of its episodes but getting to the actual ending is the biggest reward.

It's not just those though, even with anime specifically aimed at kids.

One of the main villians in the Mysterious cities of gold, literally poisons a entire village

I'm telling you, Japan's idea of family friendly, is utterly insane, and no other country in the world, would agree with what the Japanese idea of family friendly.

They do this all the time, It's not just a few titles

Um I wasn't talking about 'family-friendly'. I was talking about 'family-THEMED'. As in stories about family bonds.

and no other country in the world, would agree with what the Japanese idea of family friendly.

Pfft you mean "America". I assure you most Asian countries think the same way Japan does when it comes to the youth. They don't baby them like we do...actually Europe doesn't baby them either. I know because I've traveled there. You should see what passes in England for child-friendly lol...Doctor Who is made for kids and there's some pretty horrific stuff in that!

But if you want family-friendly, MOST of Ghibli's and Miyazaki's works are perfectly fine for kids? Princess Mononoke, Howl's, and Earthsea are a little too violent but Kiki, Ponyo, Totoro, Arriety, Mary and the Witch's Flower, Castle in the Sky, The Cat Returns and so on are JUST fine.

Oh you mean just family themed, well that's a different story then.

No I'm rather worldly, when I say no other country, I mean no other country. Infact some countries would probally execute people, if they tried to push some of the things the Japanese release.

In EU/AUS people go to jail for just having anime figures or whatnot in their "personal" office(but then again, just telling a joke can get you locked up these days)

However even before the world became insane, The Japanese have a completely different idea of family friendly, then anyone else.

Are you serious? Do you have a link to a source on a case of this? It's pretty hard to believe. On what charges would you even go to jail for!?

Give me a min, the AUS guy might've been just forced to take them down or otherwise get his life ruined, I'll check.

Oddly enough, can't find the many videos covering this, but I found some official hearing based on such. I'm dead serious, they are this buthurt over anime figures.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shsqsuBfq6Y&ab_channel=thdotaku

Also for the record, I've seen the figures in question, none of them are nude, and frankly none were really scantally clad

The most revealing figure was a sucubus, but it was old school traditional, not really ecchi or anything. You see more revealing people in r/l at the beach, wearing even less.

Things are crazy these days.
