| I don't necessarily like all these anime but these are usually called gateway anime by many: Sword Art Online - fantasy/isekai Naruto - battle shounen Death Note - mystery/thriller Toradora - romance If he's a pervert (and doesn't have a sister ig) just tell him to watch Kiss x Sis and thank you later. |

| Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 -- has a Star Trek feel to it Seirei no Moribito -- medieval Asia setting Katanagatari -- quest-type: "collect <blank> for <blank> reason" All of those have nice graphics and sound so they showcase the medium well. |

| It very much depends on your friend. But mostly I would say a gateway anime either in the shounen or shoujo genre would be a good start. They are easy to watch and easy to turn your brain off.
