I heard that this new Anime it's kind of a remake of the first season but what's exactly different?

Also I haven't watched the series yet. Can I start with this one?

Its basically the same, you can start with this one. The difference is that it is 13 1-hour episodes instead of 25 normal ones.

It is rebroadcast with director's cut.
Each episode is 50 min long with some new content added.
Pretty nice to refresh your memory before 2nd season kicks in.

I started with this, never saw original and I'm hyped for s2 already

You really don't loose much, it's pretty much the same as the original for now, but i'd recommend watching the director's cut as it comes out cause of the improved stuff and new scenes, and also cause the director's cut will end as the s2 will begin :>

Why exactly was the entry for the director's cut taken down? It should be listed as an alternative version. I've heard it's going to "finish the third arc." Considering each episode is about an hour long, that means the last episode will have basically an Episode 26 in it in the context of the original series. Is there anyone to talk to about this or does MAL just kinda do whatever tf it feels like?

EDIT: Eh I wasn't thinking about that quite right. The first episode is a double length episode anyways, so count it as 2, which would make it 26 half hour segments, so yeah 13 hour long episodes adds up.

I wonder what that person was talking about with the third arc then...

In any case, if there is significant difference by the ending or in the ending, I think it needs its own page. Actually, MAL is doing users a disservice by not including the name of the director's cut series anywhere in the article or being more informative about it (I realize they put something about it in background, but it's just not nearly enough). I started rewatching the series and got into the 6th episode before I stumbled upon the director's cut on another website.

I suppose it is because it doesn't include any completely new scene, the differences are basically too minor to warrant a separate entry. I think we can just set the original show as it we seen that one twice, and call it a day. But i agree, it should be added as alternative version, so that people can find and watch the improved one, rather than the OG series.

I disagree with everyone else in this thread.
At present, Shin Henshuu-ban is the same, but it's *very* likely to have a differing story in later episodes, there just aren't any notable differences right now which is why MAL admins keep taking the page down. Even if it's not different in the end, you don't lose much by watching a very very slightly improved version (outside of the convenience of shorter episodes I guess). That said, watching the original series and then rewatching the episodes with important changes through Henshuu-ban after you've finished is perfectly viable too.

up until now it seems to be just combined versions of the original episodes so id say go for it if you want to watch this version, there might be at best one or two new scenes added onto the last episodes but im not sure if it ll happen.
