I'm searching for an anime with a mc who wields a demon sword.

additionally:

- He should be ok with killing and/or morally ambiguous but not evil.
- The sword shall has a soul/will of its own and tries to tempt the mc into evil.
- It would be cool if they hunt for monsters / demons.
- It shouldn't be sci-fi. Unless it is really good I don't like isekai either.

The second season of the puppetry series Thunderbolt Fantasy features an evil sword voiced very convincingly by Aoi Yuuki. It streams on Crunchyroll.

Familiar of Zero is the only one I can think of off hand, I'm not a huge fantasy fan.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/3712/Zero_no_Tsukaima__Princesses_no_Rondo?q=zero

Highschool DxD has some talking Dragon Gear, its not exactly a sword, but its a weapon that treats the wielder like a partner, I forget if they actually kill anybody though, its been too long.

Owari no Seraph involves a sword (really all the weapons) that has its own personality and also tries to make the MC evil. It also fits most of your criteria more or less

That franchise is pretty good, it's wuxia but written by an anime screenwriter, would recommend you try it at least.

Thunderbolt Fantasy looks nothing like most puppetry shows you've seen. It has some simlarities to things like Gerry Anderson's Space 1999, but the folks at PIRI in Taiwan take this artform to an entirely new level. When Gen Urobuchi (Madoka, Psycho-Pass) saw PIRI at work while he visited Taiwan, he immediately decided to try and create a joint work with Japanese and Taiwanese staff. Here's the opening of the first episode. You might find it interesting; you might not.

I mean I really don't like puppets. They feel so inhumane and emotionless. I don't fear them but I really don't like them at to the point finding them uncomfortable. I have watched the video you've sent and it made me laugh tho. I don't think I can watch that seriously. Also the reasons I like cartoons and anime are color plates animation and the fact that it can defirne the laws of physics. Tho I'm not trying to be an asshole thank you for your time and your reccomendation.

Zero only got worse now that I think about it, the male MC starts getting sensitive about killing people in later seasons now that I remember and the tsudere acts the same despite the dude saving her ass alot. So never mind, scratch that recommendation, lol. Its too bad, a dude flying around in a vintage A6M Zero shooting down dragons has alot of potential.

Evil weapons are actually not that specific man. It is kind of a common troupe. What I like about it using evil to kill evil it sounds so badass. I have started watching Soul eater not long ago btw. It kindda is different from what I'm searching for.

The word is "trope". Troupe has a different meaning.

Just a simple typo sorry if that bothers you that much.

It's still too early to tell if the sword in https://myanimelist.net/anime/38000/Kimetsu_no_Yaiba will become enchanted in some way.

Genji is an unusual choice for someone to just pick up these days. I gave it a 7, too. Pretty, but slow. But then the novel is hardly fast-paced.

I suggest Hyouge Mono if you want an historical show. It's pretty unique. No enchanted or demonic anything though, just warlords and tea connoisseurs.

Even though I haven't seen much of the Genji due to life's fast pace. ( I only had the time to start really watching stuff ) Idk but it has a different charm yeah I gave it a solid 7 usually I think I gave more to the anime than they deserve but Genji really does deserve 7. It has a very interesting and weird way of telling a story. I only took it because of the story behind that historical womanizer :P. The real reason I asked for recomendations even tho I have 100+ plan to watch is I really do miss the old anime they used to have distinctive art styles and more mythic stories. Like youkai and kami. These days a good show is a 12-13 ep long manga advertisements with big "plots".

edit: Although I'm not sure if I'll ever finish Genji.

Give Junni Kokuki ("Twelve Kingdoms") a try. It's just been licensed for streaming by Crunchyroll, too, after a long time in dormancy. The first 39 episodes tell a complete story; the last six were abridged when the novelist took ill.

https://www.crunchyroll.com/the-twelve-kingdoms/episode-1-shadow-of-the-moon-the-sea-of-shadow-chapter-1-783802

Youko carries the "Water Monkey Sword" which has demon-killing powers and the ability to see into the past, the future, or distant lands.
