Thunderbolt Fantasy looks nothing like most puppetry shows you've seen. It has some simlarities to things like Gerry Anderson's Space 1999, but the folks at PIRI in Taiwan take this artform to an entirely new level. When Gen Urobuchi (Madoka, Psycho-Pass) saw PIRI at work while he visited Taiwan, he immediately decided to try and create a joint work with Japanese and Taiwanese staff. Here's the opening of the first episode. You might find it interesting; you might not. |

| It's still too early to tell if the sword in https://myanimelist.net/anime/38000/Kimetsu_no_Yaiba will become enchanted in some way. Genji is an unusual choice for someone to just pick up these days. I gave it a 7, too. Pretty, but slow. But then the novel is hardly fast-paced. I suggest Hyouge Mono if you want an historical show. It's pretty unique. No enchanted or demonic anything though, just warlords and tea connoisseurs. |
