Shueisha's Young Jump magazine announced on its official website on Friday that manga author Makoto Ogino died on April 29 at age 59. The cause of death was renal failure. A private funeral held by his family members took place on May 8.

Ogino was born in the Gifu Prefecture in May 1959. He made his manga author debut in 1985 in Young Jump with Kujakuou (Peacock King), and was presented the with the Young Manga Award in the same year. The series ended in 1989, spanning over 17 volumes.

AIC and Studio 88 produced a three-episode OVA between 1988 and 1991. Madhouse adapted the manga again into a two-episode OVA in 1994. A live-action film adaptation premiered in 1988.

Prior to his death, Ogino was working on Kujakuou: Sengoku Tensei and Kujakuou: Rising.

Corrected. The first OVA series was produced by different studios. Madhouse re-adapted the manga later.

i wonder if overwork was a factor that led to renal failure. 59 is a really young age to depart.
my condolenses to his family and friends.
You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

This has been a rough year for manga. Monkey Punch, Kazuo Koike and now Makoto Ogino.

My sincerest condolences to his fans, friends and family.
Take care of yourself

At least he finished the final chapters of his works. It would suck if he died with them incomplete. Rest easy, RIP.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

the guy literally overworked to death, and some people here are more worried about being able to finish their pirated chapters. MAL in a nutshell.
