A part that they can truly like. Interview conducted by: @Scarlett_ryuken Could you tell us about yourself? I'm guessing you mean my real self~ My name I don't want to disclose in public on MAL so I'll just refer to myself as Shiro, but I am 26 years old, I was born and raised in Canada, in the province of Ontario, somewhat near Toronto, maybe an hour drive away. I'm half scottish, and I'm only in contact with my family from the Scottish side. I used my Scottish heritage to go to Scotland and study abroad for 6 years of my life, I just recently returned to Canada in the summer time. I'm white, have brown hair, and brown eyes, and I am a Male. I used to have plans to become transgender, but I actually changed my mind after meeting haxx and feeling more comfortable about my current self. How did you choose your username? I chose my username based on my Playstation username, which was chosen randomly because I liked the sound of it. My Playstation username is Kurokitsune66, and I've been using that for about 10 years now. Shirosune is just ShiroKitsune but without the Kit so that it flows better~ Unfortunately that's all I can say about my username, there wasn't really much thought put into either of them, I guess I do really like Kitsunes though~ Could you give us a brief history of your time on MAL? Well, I created this account long long ago, and used it solely for the purpose of logging anime that I've watched so that I can keep track of them. I enjoy doing that for things, making a log of what I've done and what I plan to do. I only actually started using the forums back in October, and I was pretending to be a girl of a younger age than my current age, I ended up destroying that persona after only 2 weeks and I've just been myself since. I met haxx on the 16th of November, or the 17th for him because of time zones, actually we met earlier, but became official on that date. Any users you like/dislike? Why? Users I like would probably be people like @R-Unknown, who was one of my first friends on MAL - we talk all the time via lengthy PMs about random stuff like waddling like Pingu and why we're both chuunis. Another user I like is @Sorainnosia who is like my onee-chan on this website, I love her very much (platonically) and we talk often about silly things, and both of us enjoy doing cute roleplay chats (nothing lewd.) I also like @RyouHayato - we both enjoy teasing each other all the time via profile comments, but I guess we don't really do that too much anymore. Also obviously @HaXXspetten?, who I love dearly and is my favourite user on MAL. I also need to give shoutout to many of my friends on Monia Cafe who I enjoy talking to every day like @Head_hunter, @kai_n_walker, @Azerola etc.! Users I dislike is a bit harder to come up with, because I'm not the type of person who actually dislikes people very often, unless they've done something to me that made me really upset. How did you get into anime/manga? I got into anime and manga because of TV, as a kid I spent a lot of time watching tv and a few shows that really stood out to me amongst all the others were things like Inuyasha, Dragon ball Z, Naruto and Bleach. You know, the typical standard kid shows you'd see on TV, also obviously Pokemon, Digimon and Yu-gi-oh too. As a kid I had no clue what "anime" was, it was just another cartoon to me. I only found the depths of anime when I finally got a PC of my own and decided to look up Bleach episodes online so I could watch them on my lunch breaks. I ended up finding streaming sites that had tons of other anime like Azumanga Daioh which is my first anime I've completed, from there I just got hooked. What other hobbies do you have outside of anime/manga and MAL? I am a massive gaming addict, I buy and play pretty much every new game that comes out (not indie unless they're really good looking). I have over 80 platinum trophies on PSN, and I've completed to full completion many other games on other consoles and platforms. I really enjoy Pokemon as you can tell by my current MAL set, but I also really enjoy JRPGs or any RPG in general actually, shooters, city building games, simulation games, actually you know what, I'm going to say I love every genre other than puzzle games, and even then I enjoy quite a few puzzle games! How do you think people on mal perceive you as a user? I'm not sure honestly, I think I'm seen as an imouto of sorts for a lot of people due to the way I act and roleplay, I enjoy acting cutesy and being bubbly, and people either like or dislike that. I have a few people who seem to not really like me but I feel generally I'm well accepted to most users I talk or interact with :3 How did you meet HaXXspetten? Oh gosh.. Well I guess I'll be honest about this one lol. A little while back, a friend of mine created a club on MAL called The Friends Club, which was an 18+ club for roleplay and hentai purposes. At first I didn't really know Haxx, but we began RPing, and realised both of us filled what each other was looking for, then we began talking more. We both ended up falling in love with each other, and the club kind of died since no one was really using it for its purposes anymore since people started becoming pairs like me and Haxx. So, we met because we're both giant perverts I guess? Have you cried for an anime? Yes, a few times. Honestly, I can't remember most of the times, but I know for a fact I cried while watching Chuunibyou. Something about that anime captivated my emotions and got me really invested. The part of the anime where Rikka ends up leaving made me cry quite a bit lol. On the other hand, for some reason stuff which is supposed to be sad doesn't really make me cry too often. Like in Your Name, I was really close to crying, but I didn't even up shedding any tears. I won't go into details because spoilers~ Since you play Pokemon a lot, do you play it competitively and where? Now this is a tough question. I do play Pokemon a lot, true, and I do play it competitively I guess I would say, but the problem is, I'm not very good? lol I spend the time to EV train pokemon and I breed for natures and IVs, but I have no clue how to build a proper team synergy and I'm clueless about what moves work well with each other etc. I guess you could liken me more to a competitive breeder and trainer, not a competitive fighter. I have used my trained pokemon to fight before though, like against friends and sometimes online opponents, but the people online are way too good! Interviewer comment: Same fam, i breed and EV train more than i battle. Do you have a standard team in Pokemon? Not really honestly! In fact I very rarely even keep pokemon in my team through my journey of pokemon! I'm the kind of person who is always switching out pokemon. I have a completionist mentality, and once a pokemon reaches it's final evolution I'll usually swap it over to another pokemon and raise that one up too! I will say though that I really do like running Gengar, Umbreon and Alakazam, but the chances of me actually using all 3 of those pokemon are kind of slim. I like to experiment and try other things often! Interviewer comment: Also same, i rarely keep the same mons for 1 playthrough =w=. we should be besties What is a something you like that most people don't know or don't appreciate a lot? Hmm, I feel my tastes in everything are pretty common unfortunately. I am a massive gamer though, so I guess there are a few game series that don't get enough appreciation in my opinion, like the Atelier series. Which surprisingly is a bit more popular than I expected on MAL, outside of MAL it almost seems like people don't even know the series exists! I usually buy every entry to that franchise, it's definitely not the prettiest game out there, or the one with the most depth in terms of combat or anything, but I love the crafting system and I hope they get more budget to improve the other aspects of the game too. Which life you like the most - real or online? Normally I would say my online life, I've been living in MMO worlds and online for a big portion of my life, and I've always gotten more enjoyment out of them. Since I'm a big roleplayer, I'd pretend I was my character very often, and get lost in these worlds as if I was living separate lives. However as of late, my real life is getting better and I'm looking forward to the future! What was the first club you joined when you entered MAL? My first club, and still my most active club to be in is Monia Cafe. I'm always in monia cafe talking to my friends that I've made there, and I love all of them, even the people who like to tease me everytime they see me like @infierno and @fyrusking. If it was not for the club, I don't think I would have stuck around on the forums as long as I have. So thank you @SweetMonia for running such a fun club~ Did you ever feel like you wanted to quit MAL? A few times I was tempted to quit MAL, there were some times where I felt like I wasn't liked by people, and thought I should just leave, but a few friends convinced me that it was just in my head. Keep in mind my time actually on MAL compared to my account age is quite short, I only really became active 3 months ago, before that I was just using my account as a way to keep track of anime, so situations that make me want to quit this site have been pretty rare due to my short time here :3 How you look like in real life? Hmmmm.. Well I'm pretty average I guess? Heres a pic of me: In all seriousness, I'm a male, about 5 foot 6 inches, I have short dark brown hair and brown eyes. There really isn't too much I can say about this, because I'm not really comfortable posting a picture of me on the site, but in terms of looks I'm pretty average I guess. On MAL however, I like people to imagine me as female, usually as a white haired Kitsune due to me really enjoying roleplaying. I've always felt more comfortable as a female online, but I always let people know I'm actually biologically male irl. So, someone wants to know about your whole transgender issue you had with yourself, do tell us more. I grew up pretending to be a female for most of my life since I've had internet. I've just always felt more comfortable as one, but it created a huge disconnect between my online life and my real life. I wanted to close that connection and do what I always felt like what I was meant to do, and change my gender irl so I can be happy and feel myself, and I guess "whole." However, over time I've started to just be myself online, and the thing that cemented me staying who I am and being happy with it, was meeting and being with @HaXXspetten :) Interviewer comment: Sounds like a cute meeting =/, feel bad for making fun of haxx about the relationship now. Is there something unasked you would like to talk about? Yeah sure, I'm surprised I hadn't gotten a question about gaming in general since I'm such a huge gaming otaku. I'll talk about that a bit. Since I was a kid I've been huge on gaming, all aspects of it - board games, video games, analog games like darts and bowling, it's always interested me. My first real game, since I had a few of those crappy kid games, was Pokemon Red for the Gameboy. I've owned every single Nintendo console to date, all Sony consoles, and most of the Xbox consoles. I've even owned a few rare consoles like the Wonderswan and the Game Gear. I hate when people ask me what my favourite games are though, because that's a really tough question for me - my tastes change very often, maybe one day I'll say Super Mario World is my favouite game of all time, maybe the next day I'll say Sonic 2, maybe the next Pokemon Gold. It's always changing, and I've played so many games in my life that picking a few is really difficult out of the whole bunch~ Any feedback on the interview format? I like it, the spacing is good, instead of a million questions right away. I didn't know much about MAL interviews so I didn't really let anyone know right away that I was doing one and they should send in questions, but luckily a few got sent in.
