| I personally see nothing wrong with the word since it came from the latin word "niger" which means black. I can understand why people still would want to use the latin alternative since 60% of the english language comes from latin or greek words. We also have two types of words, nigga and nigger. Nigger is much more offensive and provocative than nigga. You can say, "what up nigga" but you can't say "what up nigger". Two completely different fish from the same sea. So I'd say it's a very tough thing to really judge the word because everybody will react to the word differently. I think that since the word is a part of popular culture, it has morphed form its word of origin (nigger), and even from the original purpose of reclaimation. Then again, I'm East African, and as such my family didn't have to endure the pain behind that word so maybe I'm not a proper authority on the matter. Even so, I think people should be able to use it. Realistically though, this shift probably won't happen, as most people have the common sense to refrain from using it. |

| I probably wouldn't say it in casual discussion, because I speak English like some polite robot (what I write online is a whole another thing). I don't speak any "offensive" words anyway, unless I'd be really pissed off at someone on a personal level. Like if some black guy stole my bag and ran away I'd probably scream at him and call him a "fucking nigger" :D I wouldn't consider that racism anyway, just venting. | My opinion on the word. Honestly, despite being black I just find the word stupid regardless of who uses it. Though I do find the word funny sometimes when watching shows like The Boondocks. | I'm black and never use it. Only American blacks commonly use it not other blacks worldwide. I wouldn't care if non blacks use it in a non derogatory way.
