Ever wanted to share one of your reviews with your clubmates? Well, in here, you can do just that. You can also discuss someone's review that was posted here. Posting multiple reviews in one post is acceptable as well. If you see a review of a show you saw, and are even mildly interested, check the review out. I hope to see an active thread full of people who like reviewing on MAL.

I'll go first.

Here is my Cowboy Bebop review:

@meison you reeeeaaaly need to proofread your stuff, additionally you say so, so much (heh) avoid using the same words over and over again. Beyond that keep up the good work :3

I'll also get around to making reviews... Eventually, so look forward to that ;)

Pretty good Keijo review. Albeit I'd argue that the show does occasionally shake up the formula you claim to never be shaken by the show at all (just look at episode 10, even if that example is sort of cheap and unfair).

My tip:
•You might want to shorten your gaps between paragraphs. Just having a full one-line space in between is enough. We don't need a gigantic space in between every paragraph, since it's just plain padding.

Thanks for the tip,

The reason why I had gaps in my paragraphs was to avoid people from being completely overwhelmed by the entire passage, is that ineffective? With the attention spans of most people nowadays I'd thought that I'd do my best to help them.

I see what you're trying to do, but a short gap in between isn't a hinderance for anyone, but lots of huge gaps actually make things harder for the reader, as they have to keep scrolling (along with their eyes) for the new paragraph rather than it already being there for the viewer to comfortably move on. Besides, as long as your paragraphs aren't humongous, I doubt people will have that hard a time. So yeah, short gaps are better.

@CodeBlazeFate alright thanks for the tip,

I have been wondering too, what does those top reviewers have in common? is it because of their uniqe writing style that makes them so popular? or is it just merely because they are popular people on MAL? I've been thinking of looking at them to improve.

Well, some of them did get popular through how well they write and how much detail they can put into their reviews. I'm not necessarily that popular (albeit popular enough to get into the 4 top reviews for some anime), but yeah, great writing and good detail are essential when making a big review, and once you master your craft and produce a good amount of solid reviews, people will take notice.

You're on the same track as me when it came to my earlier reviews the fact that our helpful counts in the first 5 of both of ours are similar. Keep it up, and you're sure to get somewhere.

Alright then. Don't limit yourself if you don't have to, but it'll be fun to see you grow your path in being an anime critic.

I think Konosuba just isnt for you, I actually enjoy the characters very much, its like the MC is the observer feeling disappointed at how every expectation of being in an isekai world was crushed, having a useless paladin, mage and arch priest by his side, you cant take its story seriously, because it doesnt have it, its all about fucking around in a fantasy world, and that it isnt always about going on an adventure and become a hero. Yes it is indeed repetitive, but some people dig that, I personally dont like comedies either, because I, perhaps like you, seek a story progression.

Fate Grand Order was a pretty advertisement, there was all there is to it, so what you said is pretty concise.

I wrote one , finally, its a movie review though The Anthem of the Heart

You lost me when assuming that I said it requires story progression in its entirety. As stated, story doesn't matter that much here, for its episododic, by some of these episodes were just plain filler that could've been used for varied jokes or to help make it so that they were on their way out of the beginner town by the end of it. I tried what the jokes are going for, and a lot of them are funny, but I personally would get tired of hearing the same 3 jokes verbatim for 100 minutes (aka, about 5 episodes, sans OP and ED), especially if one of them is shot making someone the worst person ever (without any harm to being horrible, which is why Kirito from SAO Abridged works so well). Kazuma is my favorite MC in the show by default given how much he'll he puts up with and the sheer shark and spite he gives off around these chicks, leading to some hilarious scenarios (panty twirling), but that second half...everything got old. That's my main problem: the jokes got old and they refused to tell new ones until it was too late.

Thanks. Seriously, that thing was nothing more than what you just said, but if it bothered to pay ANY attention to detail when it came to its plot, and if it bothered making any of its protagonists worth a damn (like making Ritsuka actually have an impact on the plot), it would've been so much more. That's why I hate it. Still, glad you agree that it's a glorified ad at best.

Interesting. Haven't heard of that movie.

Well what I was trying to say that I personally wouldnt rate its story if its point is to not have one, but I do see your points that it could have been far more refreshing. Who knows itll be a sucker punch that by gods grace they somehow become the strongest in the land by fucking around, I predict that thatll be the light novels ending XD.

It is a great movie! you should watch it!

Well, it won't let me get by without a rating, so, might as well put the rating on display. Besides, there were a few leaps in logic here and there.

Maybe someday I'll see it. Got a lot on my plate already, especially when it comes to watching shows for his season and binging two Gundam shows (IBO and IBO 2) and another 24 episode show (Trickster). In March in particular, I'll be pretty busy with that.

Alright then. Hope to see you up on the seasonal reviewing scene eye the shows start ending.

How do you juggle your time between watching anime and writing reviews and real life? For me writing a review takes me a whole day, which makes it hard for me sometimes since I'm a university student. Its still the beginning of the semester so I still have time, just worried about when my exams come in I might just disappear from the scene.

That said, heres my Kiznaiver Review: https://myanimelist.net/reviews.php?id=238347

Often, I have a flurry of thoughts when watching a show that I know I'll save for the review I do of it. The reviews usually take me about 1 hr 45 min, give or take. Only on rare occasions do I have to take longer than 2 1/2 hours (like in my Mahouka review) and if it's an extreme situation, I may even clock in upwards of 6 hours (just look at my Code Geass and R2 reviews), but a large chunk of my thoughts come from watching it and processing what I witnessed during down-time. Luckily, I'm not in a University, so that helps.

I think you mentioned something that I hadnt done which was very important. To process my thoughts with the down time I have, most of the time I sit infront of my laptop thinking of coming up with things to say, when I couldve just went out for a walk to think instead. Thanks!

@Scarlett_ryuken, nice to meet you, my geographical neighbour. I just have the habit of writing long reviews. Perhaps its superficial, I am trying to reduce my word count for the sake of clarity though

You're welcome. Then again, it's not entirely healthy to think about ashoe you're watching, nonstop. That's something I gotta take into consideration. Still, processing it helps, so I'm glad you found that tip helpful.
