One can look at it that way and it would make more sense. But that misses the point of the story being a moral dilemma expounding the dangers of playing God or extending scientific research. In other words, it remains a failure of a novel nonetheless.

I wouldn't call it a failure, it's a good book. But it has it's flaws, I agree.

Dracula by Bram Stoker, not horrifying for today's standards, but still, a gritty, macabre read.

Just reading through the lines and vivid description of the harrowing places (especially Castle Dracula) will make this novel one of the best Gothic horror classic.

I cannot rec you more than that because I still have so many books to read, so let's read together then ^_^

Read all of Charles Dickens's works if you haven't already.

What Charles Dickens should I read first? I currently have only Tale of Two Cities, and I'm thinking what to read next (Our Mutual Friend, Bleak House, or Great Expectations), but I'll focus more on reading Eliot first before him.

All of his works are classics. My personal favorite from him is great expectations, but other books like bleak house, Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickleby, A christmas carol, david copperfield etc are definitely worth reading.

I'd recommend Great Expectations, it's one of the few books I actually enjoyed being forced to read in school.

-The Count of Monte Christo

-Les Miserables

-1984

-Any of the bullshit Makishima keeps quoting in Psycho Pass to look sophisticated. (Actually a few of those works are pretty good)

Everyone should read The 13 1⁄2 Lives of Captain Bluebear, by German writer (and cartoonist) Walter Moers, at least once in their lifetime.

In a nutshell, it's about the partial life of a bear, as the bear develops & grows so does the language and pace of the book so the story morphs from an adults children's book to something rather expressive and intellectually meaty. It's also just so much fun to read. I love this book.

It's a bright yellow book, hard to miss, you don't want to get this on a reader, you will want the book because Moers peppers the book with his illustrations to help get a visual across and that doesn't translate well on readers/online formats.

Now, Titania, shall we bet? If those two would get along.
Rather than that, it would be better to bet on how many are made.

Same here. Everyone says they cried so hard while reading the book but to me it really wasn't that sad. By that I mean the way the whole thing was written, not exactly what happened. What happened was really sad.
