This.

Also, VLC had a huge upgrade semi-recently and it seems to work pretty well with most of the anime I'm watching.

Play with one and see which one you like/works best for what you watch.

Clearly if you had done your research prior to you responding to my last comment you would understand, but thats not the case Windows essential codec pack is better than cccp in my opinion.

Your comparison made no sense.
WECP = codec pack
MPC = media player

If you're comparing with CCCP instead, there's really no "better" one since they're the same thing. Except CCCP has LAV filters as well, which works better than FFDshow.

That's why you have no idea what you're talking about.

WECP= Download with media player
CCP= Download with media player

And Wecp has a lot more built into it than cccp, if your going to argue that then I have nothing else to say to you.

Can we like have a NORMAL discussion for once, instead of argue and trying to start a debate on something so redicilous. Honestly that is all i see in these forums these days. So tiring. Its hard to ever enter into a discussion and provide my own feedback cause i won't want to be the center of an argument.

I still stick to my old and functional BS Player. I've tried VLC several times, and despite its better sound quality, I kind of got annoyed at having the video stopping several times during the viewings. Then again, my laptop is not exactly a prodigy in speed and functionality.

This. I've used VLC and it has a lot of flaws, but one of the main ones in my opinion is that it can display typesetting incorrectly, I tested a video in VLC and the same video on MPC-HC and realized that it was VLC that warped the position of the typesetting, not the subbers. The second is that MPC-HC has an amazing feature called "Play next in folder". It does it automatically. Seriously. Honestly, you couldn't pay me to give that up. Perfect for marathons.

Minor things: MPC-HC's explorer icons actually tell you what type of file the video is, VLC's constant "building font cache" messages piss me off, you can click the video to pause in MPC-HC, the player controls don't appear in fullscreen until you actually move the mouse down to the bottom of the screen in MPC-HC which I like a lot better than having the controls appear when the mouse is moved even a little in VLC, and you can customize your filters in MPC-HC.

And most fansub groups recommend MPC-HC for their releases. That alone should tell you something. Taken from Commie's website: "If you use VLC you’re a massive cumguzzling homosexual."

Their words, not mine. But humorous nonetheless. I think most people use VLC and MPC-HC, which is good, because WMP and pretty much anything else are just not that great. I've had a lot of WMP trouble in years past, and the idea of using it is about as appealing as the idea of using Internet Explorer.

The KMPlayer. I've used VLC for a few years and I like it, but KMPlayer offers a nicer GUI, far better handling of subtitles and a plethora of options to customize the output.

Just the other day I made my friend switch to CCCP+MPC. His VLC was missing some codecs and CCCP/MPC is as simple as it gets for a general user. I don't recall any problems thus far. But I occasionally prefer KMPlayer (with Klite codec pack?) just because the UI is better.

This is the method I do when school starts back sadly the ps3 has no support for mkv, it would be easier to see 720p or 1080p anime if the console supported mkv. But thats why media servers or computer and laptop connected to a tv through hdmi exists I guess.
