| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Oh god... I can't believe that was the last chapter. FINALLY. There are only two volumes but it felt like there were like 20. I was bored as fuck while reading, and decided to make it to the end only because of a good score here. WHAT. 8,15 you say. Just who on earth gave it more than 7? I just don't understand. I gave it 4. Pretty banal story, average art, and no yaoi lol. Give me back my wasted time, damn it. |

| I was waiting for the yaoi too... Then I saw the tags "Mystery, Horror, Josei" and that Kotetsuko-sensei only did the art. Well, it was frustrating and I was hoping for more, but if you see it as a Josei manga, it was good. |
| I thought it was so slow and mediocre from the start but then it actually got pretty awesome. The backstory and mystery are great. Loved the creepy feel to it. |
| While I can understand that the beginning was quite slow, I really liked it towards the end. It was a little sad that the mother died and the whole switching them when they were children was sad cause no one even noticed. Overall though, I really liked it. |

| I can't give this more that a 7... even 7 is a little too much I think. The story didn't intrigued me, in fact I was hoping it ends soon 'cause I got bored. I usualy love mistery and that's why I picked this manga, but I am a little disappointed.. |

| Decent ghost story, interesting mystery - I only wish main characters were a little more developed, because the story focused mainly on Naoki's research and family's secret, not his feelings or fears - and this would be a good addition to manga like this one. Maybe it's not gonna be my new favourite, for what it was, I definitely enjoyed reading this short series :3 Nice atmosphere, cute artstyle and satisfying ending (which I find quite rare in this genre) - 7/10 |

| Very disappointing. Subpar at best with that ending. 3/10. I don't know what I was expecting, and I haven't watched/read Shiki yet, but I was expecting a good story from this Mangaka. The concept of a spirit (mistress) mother cursing the family who stole her son by causing them to have their son kill their mother through manipulation of making the son believe they're the spirit's son is intriguing. The origin of the spirit's son, Kichi, failing to kill the Sugata family who kidnapped him from his mother and be killed by them, leading to his mother (the spirit) committing suicide is cool as a parallel to the curse. Unfortunately, it's all very dull. Technically character-wise, it's decent how the cursed son is deluded into believing that their actual mother is a fake who kidnapped them from the spirit mother, cause them to be spiteful with an urge to kill their real mother... but the problem with this story is how boring it is overall, and how easily she's averted from a fucking cat who can sense her... that's lame. The biggest horrific moment where she passed her hands through the tatami walls, drags one of the son's out was so underwhelming action-wise. Worse is the ending itself in how after 200 years/6 generations, she finally stops her killing simply after realizing that the Sugata family isn't cruel as her generation's because the Aunt in the story committed suicide to prevent the curse from happening again. Shit story. If she wasn't so easily averted by a cat and her end of the curse was more elaborate, this horror could have been slightly better. Although, on a positive note, the character's interactions are fairly good. The sad scenes were strong. |
