Man, you guys got sick off this? Jesus. At least I know who's brains will be food for the zombies that one day run rampant upon the Earth.

But really. Want a grand ol' time? Go read some guro or something. School Days was pretty mellow.

EDIT - I think it has something to do with "emotions" but I fail to understand. Perhaps I am a sociopath too. I didn't cry during Marley and Me. That makes me a monster doesn't it?

Bar the last episode this anime is far more realistic than most other harem anime.

The point of a harem anime isn't realism, it's the opposite of realism. We can get realism just by stepping outside. It's the dream we go out of our way to find. So while it may have been more realistic, that would not be considered one of its redeeming qualities. And there's where I would have to disagree with your initial statement; it was awful, sickening - even barring the last episode.

This anime is based off of the visual novel. So even the game is quite messed up. When I mean by that, it also has bad endings as well.
Plus, I find this anime really good despite it has some fan service and ecchi moments. And I'm such a sucker for drama anime (and romance).

I managed to sit through to episode 8 before I couldn't take it any more and I just read the spoilers. The thing that angers me the most, is that I won't be able to forget this fucked up thing no matter how I try.

I need to watch something more....happy, because this was just...ugh. I really need to watch something else to change my mood, otherwise tomorrow at school is gonna be hell.

I can't understand how people LOVE Katsura and hate/blame Sekai... First of all the one to blame is Makoto because he was a fucking pervert from the beginning even before Sekai did something, he wanted to touch Katsura even though they just met and started dating a few dates ago. That would be still ok I guess if she wanted that but after telling him no he wasn't interested in her and already started thinking about Sekai and the time when she kissed him at the train station. She loved him very much and that's why she couldn't hold back after he told her that he loves her as well, though he was lying and just wanted to have sex with her... At that point he should've told to Katsura that he doesn't like her and he dates Sekai (she even asked him to tell Katsura about it but that f*** didn't want to that) then be a normal break up. But now, he doesn't say a shit untill she finds out herself, then she turns psycho and didn't want to let Makoto go, which led him to get "psyched out" as well and then he started escaping Sekai and slept with everyone else...

And that random shit that everyone else slept with him... wtf.. F*** IT! even after that when he found out that Sekai was pregnant he could have stayed with her happily... kinda. But no, he already is at the point of no turning back, and still tries to find another girl to f*** around and then this stupid bi*** Katsura sows up, again... Seriously... Sekai was normal, she just wanted revenge because she was pregnant, she suffered so much as having to restrain her feelings and help Makoto to get together with Katsura and finally when he wanted to break up with Katsura and approached Sekai.. only to use her, because he thought it was easy to get from her... Fu***** b****rd... Sekai suffered so much... she was pregnant and he didn't want to stay with her, she couldn't hold anymore and just wanted revenge, that happens a lot of times in real life... And then this crazy, retarded Katsura chops Makoto into pieces, puts him in the bag... and then fucking kills Sekai as well... Wtf... stupid bi***, she should have stayed away from Makoto coz he wanted to break up with her...

Just because Katsura is so moe you guys support her... The only one you should feel sorry for is Sekai, not those psychos Katsura and Makoto... Though I still kinda felt sorry for him A LITTLE BIT because if Sekai wouldn't have died they could've been together at the point where she was staying his house... but no, this stupid Katsura showed up.

And sorry for the *** (censore) I just didn't want this post to get removed by moderator because of the language.

I heavily disagree with your interpretation. Think about it this way, Sekai liked Makoto far before they met so why would she set him up with Kotonoha to begin with. She was only manipulating Kotonoha so she could get with Makoto.

I'm not sure, i think it was more a friends-relation until sekai really went deep into helping makoto, during that time she prolly fell in love.

Nope, it was later revealed that for her, it was pretty much love at first site. She liked him and tried to do anything to get close to him, she even begged Setsuna to trade seats with her so should could sit next to him. She went in to this friendship with feelings for him.

I recently completed this anime. I watched out of curiosity to see why people are hating this anime. Well I guess I know why now... :(

Man, Makato is a fu*king di*k! He totally deserved that at the end. I feel bad for Sekai though.

This is like the worst anime I've seen and at the same it's a really a good anime, just that I wish I never watched it.

Can anyone recommend me something to overcome this feeling?

People are so one sided when it comes to the characters. Not to mention too soft when it comes to the story. Call it "demented" and "twisted" but this is very real. Maybe not so often but when fate and friendship collides like this, the outcome is unspeakable.

As for the characters they all had their normal sides which were all driven off course by conflicting emotions and relationships. In my opinion this anime is a nice look at what can go wrong in school themed love triangles.

In start School Days was happy and lively one anime.
Later episodes become more and more dark and Kotonoha became depressed.

I...finished this anime at 1A.M this morning. My emotions are messed up. I hate Makoto for treating females like trash. I HATE Taisuke for taking advantage of Katsura. I hate all the girls that went for Makoto. Most of all what I hate is the females who get banged by Makoto still talk about their boyfriends. Katsura was the only pure female in the entire school...and Taisuke devoured that purity. This anime makes me feel so horrible. I don't get why Makoto couldn't just wait for Katsura to open up... I mean... He wanted to be sexual after only knowing her for a couple days? Maybe a week or two? Besides the Katsura being taken advantage of scene..the other scenes that made me mad was when the blonde head girl who kept talking about her boyfriend was climbing out of Makoto's bed, also the video recording of that one girl with her boyfriend....I believe Makoto even took Sekai's best friend to bed....and lastly was when he was on the phone dialing ll those numbers..and he has the nerves to feel upset and emotional. I gotta watch something else to clear my head lol.

I very much enjoyed it. This is just the cynical version of a harem show as opposed to the normal idealistic ones (cynical = all people are bad deep down and idealistic = all people are good deep down).

The fact that the first 8 or so episodes were so hard to sit through just made the ending that much better. I gave it 9 out of 10. Also i got the impression that Sekai lied about being pregnant which fits in with the cynical view and makes all three MCs fucked up. Its also nice that you can trace it all back to sekai kissing makoto in like episode 2. Makoto was even glad when he died because he realized how fucked up he became.

It was MORE realistic than normal harems but still not realistic as an entire show. Still anime rarely is.

This show gets bonus points for tricking a of lot people with weak stomachs into watching it. I just wished it was sadder. I also kinda hoped it would go all higurashi on us. It gets major bonus points for being serious and dark without having an ambiguous ending.

Disgree, i enjoyed the anime too, but this is far from realistic.
doing around 8 girls in your school in what? 2 weeks, then ending up with 2 murders.

that is just as unrealistic than 3-5 girls being attracted to 1 guy, that actually sounds a lot more realistic.

2 week? Wasn't it the whole school year? The introduction was in summer, the first hook-up was at a school festival(Octoberish), and the final scenes were after Christmas.

Do read what was said "It was MORE realistic than normal harems". In normal harems there's almost no discord among the girls trying to get that one guy(Hell most of the time they are friendly), the guy is 110% oblivious to the girls that like him, there's no sex or even kissing, and basically there's no downside in being in the guy that every girl likes. The events are realistic even if statistically unlikely but most shows that you would call realistic are examples of statically unlikely events that are still real.

To this day I havent watched a harem quite like this...I reckon watching Hentai's would be closer than watching other standard school harems.

It is still disheartening that Sekai gets so much hate...I'd say she is probably the most real of all the girls. Her actions right up to the end were fairly believable. I'm not sure I would have taken a knife to Makoto but I sure as hell would have beaten him with my fists in a rage. Other than that I dont really blame Sekai at all as there are relationships in the real world that started the same way. I am not a pro Katsura shipper or anything but I just dont find her to be as "real" a character as Sekai.

Also lol at this anime still getting lots of philosophical discussion years after it's airing...does that alone not make it an epic and memorable experience?

Memorable =/= epic.

Anyways, I couldn't help but feel jealous of Makoto doing all those chicks. Even though there was really nothing good about him; he was just a worthless sack of shit. I liked Sekai the most. Katsura was a nut. Beware the quiet ones.

I guess that's why the word and is there separating the two. You know like sweet and sour chicken or a cold and rainy day. Sweet =/= sour and cold =/= rainy are true enough but those aren't mutually exclusive.

NEETs (No Employment Education Training) are the least desirable people anybody would want to hire and yet they are the first choice to become moderators/admins around the internet. They have yet to have established a sense of responsibility or role in society and many are plain leeches (with minor exceptions). They are given "authority" to police sections of the internet with the powers of The Judge, Jury, and Executioner. Isn't that weird?

geez... this anime... I just fucking hate it... I hate the charactes, especially the protagonist... that fucking douche!... I just want to kill him myself...

but still... I love this anime for its entirety, the story of romance that went out of proportion until it ended up in such tragedy... it was just beautiful... this is the kind of anime that really concludes, it doesn't left you hanging... and it also poked at a lot of social issues and taboos which I found very interesting...

nonetheless, this anime just sucked out all of the happiness inside me... it should be the other way around... T_T

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Grave of the Fireflies, White Album, Gilgamesh, Trust and Betrayal, and Reflection are anime that a person could see that would rank more depressing than School Days.

I seriously hated that f*cking asshole Makoto. You reap what you sow b*tch. It's douchebags like him who think only with their dicks that make pretty much all guys look like perverted pigs. If anything, I ENJOYED watching his death scene, hell, I would've wanted to do it myself.. The whole f*cking cast should've died for that matter, they were all such despicable and pathetic excuses for human beings, all deprived of any moral value.
The story was really damn sickening, but unfortunately, it shows the true nature of man, only wanting to bring happiness to oneself. As much as people want to hate on this series for being too disgusting or whatever, I have to take in the fact that this sh*t does happen in reality.

I honestly thought this was a great anime, just because it made you think about what would happen if one of these love triangles(quadrangles? pentagons?) you see in animes gets seriously out of control, a concept that isn't touched upon very often.

Yeah, the characters weren't exactly commendable(especially Makoto, he was a douche) but I felt it accomplished what it was trying to.

The moral: Don't f*ck with other people's emotions. Bad things can happen.

Well it is realistic to a certain extent.

1. Cheating has gotten some folks killed irl. (It also has made the person being cheated on feel emotions such as depression, anger, sadness, jealously, etc. - all of which were depicted.)
2. Girls flock to a guy if he's really good looking.
3. Most guys at that age, like me, were pretty naive/dense.
4. Which in pretty inverse for girls who tend to be more intuitive earlier than the opposite sex.
5. Majority of girls in that age group always seem to make the first move.

I think people WANT to think it's not possible or choose not to believe it for their own sanity. The fact is, the world is not all sunshine and rainbows. Hate it break it to you guys, but look at the bright side: We've done worse.

The people who watch anime as a means to escape are the ones most bothered by anime like this. Why? Because rather than letting you continue to escape, it shoves reality right back at you through animation. It's basically like "Nope, here's the truth. There's people like this out there, this exists."

The plot and behaviours of the characters are waaaay off realistic

However its the deconstruction approach to the harem genre that is realistic, i.e girls that participate in harems are unstable psychos with issues and such selfish sex-driven actions by the male protagonist (trying to 'unlock' all the girls) results in destroying people's lives

It started out as a realistic portray of teen emotions and love triangle.
It turned frustrating and irritating somewhere halfway, then absolute craziness kicked in where I was just "lol wut?"
If have to think of what the creators wanted to achieve is probably a satire by exaggerating how stupid people can act in relationships and how primitive they are if the let themselves be controlled only by their instincts. It was a reflection.

Let me personally preface my post by stating that I have not seen this anime.

That being said, I am scared shitless because someone on another thread compared this tone of the storyline to Myself, Yourself.

I found the melancholy, dark side of slice of life interesting so i decided to check out a clip of School Days on youtube to do some investigating. Needless to say, the sight of the MC's severed head in a school bag had me scared shitless.

So am I wrong in assuming that this anime is centered around a two timing selfish jackass male lead who evidently gets his head chopped off because his yandere gf couldnt take no for an answer? ........or is this something worth watching because there is more to it than that?
