sadly never.

I fear that even if kishi somehow started pulling out dead characters out of nowhere, made the powers ridiculous, got rid of all decent villains and plotlines, separated the cast into "pure good" and "pure bad" and overpowered every good characters with rainbow powers, people would still read it it and it would still be at the to...p...oh wait.

258,958 = what it sold during the week being reported (December 27th - January 2nd in this case)
622,712 = total sales for the entire time it's been out

I'm fairly sure the total sales are the second number, while the weekly sales is the first number.

Now would you look at that...I'm quite surprised. A top 2 which lasted 2 weeks. Naruto really looks like it's leading out in Japan. Though, it's already wounded. I don't think it will be in any tops in 2-3 months at maximum :D
Anyway, glad to see Bakuman and Nurarihyon no Mago where they are :D

First number is how many sold in a timeframe.
In this case Dec 27 - Jan 9.

The second number is total sales since it's release.
If a number is the same on both then you can thus deduce it's a new release.

Hope that helps.

I lol'd at rainbow powers. I pretty much agree with what you said; though I don't think that automatically makes the series awful. It's a shonen, so I kind of expected as much. I feel like in the beginning, though, Naruto had a lot of potential to become a great manga, but sadly began to fall as Kishi became over-saturated with teeny bopper fame.
