Today sucked, terrible day at work today! When my wife and I were going I said "all I wanna do is get something to eat and watch some anime!" So I watched Trigun and I felt a little bit better. So I also said "this could be a good idea for a thread!lol! So have anyone had that experience? What did you watch? Or what would you recommend?

The experience of having a bad day, eating dinner and watching anime to get in a better mood? Sounds like a rare occurance to me. Not sure if I can relate.

I'd say Aria, with a comedy like Gintama or Miname-ke as second. But, Aria just makes me enjoy life.

I can relate. It's always good to focus off the bad day and put something else on the mind. In my case, I noticed that little children character anime makes me feel better like Potemayo, Mitsudomoe (wicked twist), and Hanamaru Youchien. Makes life feel a whole lot more simple.

Full Metal Panic Fumoffu is always good for laughs and there is no continuous plot between the episodes so it's easy to watch. :)

My morning started out badly. I tried One Piece, but it didn't help much. Fairy Tail was the one that did the job. You'd need something that lighthearted, carefree, and funny - yet not overly cheesy - to really take your mind off the more angst side of life.

I'm going to third Aria. It's hard to be tightly wound and irritable after an episode of Aria.
My first novel, Kardia has been published! Click here to read!

This happens to me far too much...anime is my favorite form of escapism. And the series in particular I always turn to on bad days is Natsume Yuujinchou. Also, Aria, Aria, Aria!

"cute girls doing cute things"

K-on, Lucky Star, Minami-Ke, Azumanga Daioh, etc. Basically your typically light feel good comedies.

I find comedies work best, especially feel good romantic comedies. Midori days never fails to make me feel happier about life. Although, i'll give a +1 to:

if comedy isn't your thing. I can see mushishi being quite a nice thing to watch after a long hard day.

I tend to watch anime that have characters treated like shit when I'm like that.
ex: Maria†Holic for Kanako
So I can think "well at least my day doesn't nearly suck as much as hers"

Yeah I know how that can be...bad days suck, and sometimes anime just cheers me up. Emphasis on the sometimes though, haha.
But I'll watch a show depending on the circumstances of the badness.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei! Is super awesome for bad days.
I started watching it because I heard there was a suicidal teacher, and I guess I was leaning towards suicidal thoughts then. I thought it would be a depressing show that would bring out my inner depression :)
But it was just hilarious and so random! ^_^ and now it cheers me up or makes me laugh no matter what

That would be like quoting 2/3 of the complete anime database ;-)
But yea, I agree with this one. Preferably something that doesn't require you to think about the storyline or whatever.

I like silly over-the-top shonen at times like that.

Lately I've been stressed pretty often and Eyeshield 21 has been helping. :)

When I'm sad I like some depressing anime. So, depending on what I'm watching, I pick the one that will have sadder conclusions sooner.

Depending on one's preferences: first season of Higurashi, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Excel Saga, Hare+Guu, something with lots of mindless fighting or an ecchi comedy.

Aria easily. I can be in a raging fit, watch an episode of Aria and then magically calm. You can NEVER stay angry when watching that show. I have a huge Aria poster over my TV for the purpose of keeping me calm when playing games like Call of Duty.
