| I rarely talk about it enough for anyone to even know. Unless they go through and stalk my Facebook, since I have pictures from conventions up. At school, I refuse to say that I like anime. Even if they ask. Mostly because of a girl that I go to school with. She's... well, how do I put this nicely? Not many people like her. She can be very irritating and it's almost embarrassing to know her. Sometimes she shows up in cosplay, and I can't help but facepalm every time. I refuse to be associated with her. |

Well, my parents found out about my ardour for the anime a long time ago. And they're totally ok with it. It's not somthing terrible or dangerous. So...don't worry about it! |

| I tell people I like anime. I wear the shirts, the messenger bags with the buttons, the eared hats, the whole bit. I may look like a weeaboo, but I'm not at all. I don't run around the manga aisle in the bookstore and sit down like a retard and read the books all the way through. Nor do I foam at the mouth when talking about it to other people. I never had anyone hate me for it. In fact, it brought all my friends TO me. Back in middle school I had no one. I was bullied (not for liking anime. Didn't like it then) but when I got into high school I became interested and was welcomed by so many people and I fit right in. I'm so glad about that so I'm not afraid to tell people that I like it. I also don't care what people think of me for it. This is who I am. I even told my podiatrist that I loved anime and guess what, he does too! He keeps up with manga, watches the shows and everything. He admitted to me he is a nerd more than his kids are haha That was awesome. So yeah, anime has done a lot for me. Not just as a hobby, but it gave me a boost to a more social life instead of putting me back where I was in middle school so of course I'm proud to say I love it. |
| Yeah, if it comes up in a conversation, directly or indirectly (i.e. someone asks about my favourite series ever, one of my choices is definitely NGE). I don't hide that I like anime, but I don't go around announcing that I do either. |

| When I was in high school, I was very open about my anime obsession. No one really judged me for that, for the most part. People generally accepted me for who I was. After I started college, though, that started to change. I have a strong feeling that people didn't want to be my friend when they know I like anime, either because they think I'm one of those weaboos or that anime is too foreign for them to understand. Nowadays, I don't bring it up unless someone asks me about it, and even then, I am very cautious about it. I can sympathize with the girl in the OP's posts. You guys shouldn't just assume that girl is the worst of the weaboos to be hated by everyone. I'm not a weaboo, and I hardly talk to anyone, but yet people avoid me for liking anime, and the few people that I am close with think it's their duty as my friend or whatever to save me from the world of anime so that I can become a normal person with friends. |

| It can present a good conversation piece but typically people who you hang out with or are good friends with tend to like stuff you do. Most of my friends like it also so I'm happy. Although I wouldn't boast about it since I've heard its bad to like it if you live in Japan or something |
| Like many others here that share the same opinion, I don't don't mind talking about anime you can acutally find out some of your friends also watch anime. It simply surprised me when i found out and hey now i have a few friends that i can talk to about anime suggestions, not big of a deal. |

| I keep it secret. I have 2 friends that know I like anime one trustworthy freind who I openly tell because he is smart enough to understand. I need to get him watching anime aswell, ill try him on death note or ghost in the shell or something..... my other and allot more stereotypical freind watches some popular anime but mostly shonen and ecchi wich I have no interest in. i don't tell him about most of what I've seen cause its too embarrassing, especially some of the more shojo anime wich I doubt he would approve of. they both found out I like anime from my pc's wallpaper, wich I sort of put up as a confession. |
