Why this anime is unpopular I feel like it isn't talked at all on YouTube and socials? I really hope it is like orb that kept getting viewers every week

What does is matter if it's unpopular? If you enjoy it, you enjoy it.

on a real note though. It's probably because there was little to no advertisement for it outside of Japan. That's the usual for most anime. Only huge projects get much to any advertising overseas.

Would not say this one is unpopular, has 45k+ members and is fairly close to a score of 8.

But as Piromysl said, the show is suffering a bit from being in a season, with so many big names. All the stuff from Shield Hero to My Dress Up Darling.

I don’t think it’s unpopular, it has been on my instagram feed and I had two coworkers recommend it to me. But, this is a loaded season so it may feel like it’s not getting the love you want it to.

I wouldnt compare it to Orb. Also, the author has done other tittles that weren't well received. Aswell as all the other big already known tittles out right now. Its no surprise it hasn't gotten a lot of attention.

" um it's because other popular anime overshadow it "

you can say this about literally most anime in any anime season, this isn't a good reason lol

Solo levelling was edgy and still was so popular. Everything was shown and done was to try its hardest to make the mc look cool. I think edgy is subjective unless they make the gore and dark stuff for shock value or for its sake only. Clevatess isn’t like that by any means

Honestly, what a stupid thing to say. If the anime is good, it will naturally reach an audience, organically. The anime has barely started.

I'm at the first minutes of the first episode and I'm puzzled at the low quality of the image. (CrunchyRoll)
It looks like the characters are computer drawn on a low-resolution canvas and dropped slightly blurred on the background.

I don't even know if the story is worth anything yet. I came here to see if anybody else was commenting on this.

@Ilias03x I've almost watched the first episode fully (been interrupted IRL)
After a while, I wasn't bothered anymore by the image.

I was however happily surprised.

My first impression of the story was average: some exposition, but not annoyingly so, and a rather unimaginative character introduction.
Given the setting, I assumed the target audience was teenagers or young adults.

Then the fun started, and I didn’t see it coming.

I think I know where it's headed, but at least the script takes a slightly unconventional approach. I’ll definitely watch more episodes.

This is probably why "nobody" is talking about the anime: it's not made for "the masses."

That was obviously just like that because it was her memory/dream. When she wakes up it’s normal

@Todday The issue lasts up to the end of the first episode and it looks more like a technical issue than an artistic license.

@Ilias03x I've finished the episode. I'll definitively watch that show.

I think only issue i really see people bringing up is questionable choice to purposely use a blurry grainy post process filter. It's not even that animation quality is bad. It has good frames and animation effort. it's just over shadowed by an art direction to purposely apply a filter over it to make it look old on purpose. It's not actually low res at all or low quality. It's just got a low quality post process on top of it. It's like taking a high fidelity game and then purposely playing it on your 30 year old CRT for nostolgia

I think the decision is questionable at best. That said, if you get over that it's a solid show.

I can understand that it's frustrating when something you like is misunderstood and not popular - it feels great when others like the thing you also like. But it's better this way.
Look what happened at Dandadan - people nowadays can't even handle villains doing villain things. Momo barely got fondled a bit and social media freaked about it and it's annoying every time it happens because algorithm shoves those rage threads into our feeds, even if we don't like it.
What would happen to Clevatess if tourists would find it? Genocide and gore in the first episode, slavery and sexual exploitation in second... People clearly can't differentiate between fiction and reality, and can't understand abstract themes. I don't want some activist flooding my feeds with posts explaining how Clevatess is bad because there are slaves in it. It also creates needless pressure on the studio and publishers. Some will ignore it or stand against it but some will unfortunately bend the knee and increase censorship to sell their stuff in the west without creating a shitstorm. We get barely any edgy series with more adult themes as it is.

No, it doesn't, unless you mean that one scene when Clevatess (beast who doesn't understand humanity or social norms) asked MC to strip so she can feed the baby. I really hope you don't means sexual themes in the 2nd episode because that was the opposite of fanservice, unless you are a freak. I don't judge fetishes but let's acknowledge what's normal and what's messed up.

It was edgy but it was very black and white so even tourist could understand it. MC was morally gray and did some messed up things but people ignored it and looked past it (which is a shame since it was a big part of his character development) because of how cool he was and all action. Also, didn't people freak out at that one slice and life episode, even though it was extremely important and basically a culmination of the entire plot until that point? I think most Solo Levelling watchers were there only for action and barely understood anything else...

SL fans are mostly about the mc being cool and “aura farming” i called it edgy because everything from the worldbuilding to the last thing about it is just to make the mc look cool and badass but to me he isn’t interesting but a white paper. Clevatess on the other hand have interesting characters and reminds me of classic fantasy shows with no RPGs stuff and execute the dark elements very well

Judging by the speed the story is going, I think it would be unfortunate if this anime can only get 1 season because of its unpopularity.
Although from the amount of factions appeared in the first episode, I'm not sure how long the story in lower classes would last. And also how fast Luna would grow. They will probably rush pretty hard, but as long as in each arc, they take it slowly, such as using 3 episode instead of 2 for the “bandit arc”, I think it will still be pretty enjoyable.

Because episode 2 killed the vibe for a lot of people and it's not outstanding compared to most other shows this season. Ep 3 has been even more of a downgrade in quality so it's only likely to get less popular from here🤷‍♂️

I just don't see why this should be more popular? I only watched the first episode and I feel like the plot or the writing of the story is stupid. You have Clevatess who is apparently a villain, he literally wipe the party of heroes and the city with the king and now he is interested in raising a baby? Like why Clevatess even care and why should he listen to the baby's parent request? Also, how the F he got knocked out by a bandit? This show is so stupid.

It is by no surprise this show is not popular. At first it was interesting but I really do not like Clevatess as the main character. Like wtf is his role supposed to be?

Clevatess isn't exactly the main character. He's a deuteragonist, the second most important character in a series. Alicia is actually the main character, given that the main plotline revolves around her and how she manages to surpass any hurdles in order to keep Luna alive. Clevatess is there to be a both a burden and a helping hand for Alicia while also learning about all these human-like races culture during their typical adventure travel.

I think its a pretty good show, but its part of a really stacked season and didn't really stand out. The manga is basically completely unknown from what I can tell so no hype from source readers either. So far the biggest flaw to me is that most of the villains have been one note with no depth. It needs more worldbuilding as well for it to really be a solid series.

fools don't know what's good

the uneven quality of animation is probably the weakest point of this show, it's usually decent to pretty cool, but sometimes it's below average and very rarely it's kinda shitty, but I couldn't care less with this show

the throwback art and vibe though, great worldbuilding and kickass characters makes it my contender for hidden gem of this season (the other title I consider is Food Court which is a great intelligent comedy I wholeheartedly recommend)

because its not a "waifu/husbando" anime, its kinda just a "really good show"

like, sure, Alicia is pretty cute/hot but the show isn't really trying to get you to "simp" for her and i highly doubt any girls are simping for Cleavatess's human form lol...

i mean, for how high the score is, Alicia being the only character with a decent amount of favorites kinda shows that and only someone like me would buy a figurine of Alicia

im just sayinig, its PROBABLY not a show most people are gonna be talking about in the future nor will characters likely come up in twitter posts, as sometimes it takes more than being a "really good show" to be remembered
