This episode reminds me why research ethics matter, poor Kobold.

It seems like a research on helping, curing, treating, saving people is much harder than weaponization research, just like our real world!

Well, it did showcase how hard researching cures for diseases can be. Heck, he has just started.

So we got 2 years time skip and now Shion is showing interest in Rose, leaving his incest route... I'm sure Marie won't appreciate Shion's betrayal, lol.

So Shino has become a somewhat Doctor at an age of 12, well I guess becoming one was always this easy.

At the end, lots of those creatures, Nightmenace appeared with a red sky at night. It's probably gonna get chaotic after this event.

Didn't expect this one arc to last for 3-4 episodes.
It's sad to see Marie in this state for that long.
Hopefully next episode we could see her awake.

2 years and no progress. It's so sad to see Marie suffer. I hope somehow by the end of season she recovers.

Even as Wincest stockholder I have no problem what Shion and Rose but not in front of your sleeping sister like cmon.

tsun Cole funny bro slowly becoming friends. Rose great helping Shion's tests & being so patient. Rafina so silly but quite loyal.
oof 2yrs timeskip, research & rehab looks long.
Duke Balfe persistent props to making the safe choices.
Real thankful it doesn't pull a magic fix like most shows, instead using rigorous tests & slow progress.

Seriously didnt expect that this sickness will be that serious. Really thought its easily solved after 1 episode.

I dont 100% like the anime, but it manages to surprise me. It always gets more serious and dark than you would think considering the general plot and the age of the protagonists

They finally removed the annoying joke for the duke and the weird loli maniac, but still insisted on the muscle-bound-knight and even added a tsundere dude...
I wouldn't mind the girl-knight but tsundere dude? a turn-off!!!

Anyway, I'm glad this series is finally getting back to its seriousness of researching how to cure Maria's lethargy sickness, and they even added a new hope for Rose's love to blossom! 🫣

But the people removed their own protection... They're letting their own massacre begin!? 😑

P.S. I guess the creepy voice will ring again in my head in the next episode...

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

God this is trash. If you put this on mute and fast speed you can see how cheap and barebones this is... Static characters, only 5 cent mouth flaps are the only 'animation'; background is a plain brick wall with a door.
The events that happen in it, walking around, staring at NPCs laying in bed, is boring AF. Followed by extremely tedious dialogue. This is so dull and unengaging. 0/5

It is unfortunate that the animation keep getting worse and worse since I'm quite invested in the show.

I get that anime and manga are different mediums, but it's surprising how far apart they are.

In the manga (no manga spoilers):

  • Marie never got sick
  • Shion never really researched the Lethargy sickness (as in this episode).
  • There was no time-skip.
  • There was only one wraith attack.
  • I don't even remember the adventurer friends, or the doctors as characters.

I understand that the Manga may have been trying to wrap things up quickly, and the Anime may be trying to stretch everything out to fill the season, but this difference is a bit extreme.

Which one is closer to the LN?

The anime. This arc is the plot of the second book.
The manga only had 3 volumes. Looking at how it diverged pretty early on the arc and then ended shortly after, I'm inclined to believe it was axed and they had to wrap things up quickly in just one volume (usually, a manga adaptation of a LN it's at the very least 2 manga tankoubon per LN volume).

nice to see there was a Timeskip to show that research takes a long time to realize some results. And bruh those wraiths are back!

Shion and the 3 new recruits to his group stating to experiment on those afflicted, as well as of monsters, it certainly takes effort to know what to start experimenting on to reap as much results as possible. And the closest to Shion and Marie. Rose is willing to sacrifice her as a dear friend who has the same apathy for magic, the son is working to his very best, though is he picking up feelings for her instead?

As the days turned into weeks, months and then years, with 2 years passed yet again, the lethargic sickness still has no cure. Still, the support of the parents has Shion feeling all too familiar, hoping for the day where Marie would awaken...which happens to be the case for the wraith menace in the night sky.

Better find a way to get rid of them quick...

As someone who works within the research field, it's refreshing to see a show actually show how long it takes to obtain successful results from research and not just instantaneously. This has been a refreshing watch :}
