it doesn't matter. the author should do what he wants with it.

i mean i don't believe vinland saga to be super historically accurate but i think yukimura will probably follow with a historically accurate one based on recent chapters

I don't think the manga was ever trying to be historically accurate in the first place so I'm fine either way. I just want it to be a satisfying ending that's it.

Who cares other than edgelords and contrarians honestly if it's historically accurate or not.

The author has dont such a great job with this story, whatever path he chooses to go with he will find a way to make it the right one, I’d bet my bottom dollar on it

I heard that the manga was in its final arc. Given that Thorfinn is based on his real-life counterpart it makes sense to have a historically accurate ending.

That’s not necessarily the case, as Inglourious Basterds was set during World War II but wasn’t historically accurate. It created its own version of events and ending. Likewise, it makes sense for Vinland Saga to have an alternative ending as well.

FWIW, IRL Thorfinn was a noble in his society. So, the "farm/slave arc" is completely made up, yet it's the key to why this story is so wonderful. I'd like the ending to be similar to the original Vinland Sagas because I think it'll add weight to the manga's finale. That said, we're all here because of Yukimura's storytelling, not the real history.

FWIW, also, in real life King Cnut successfully established his unified kingdom and is known to history at 'Canute the Great.' He won the contest.

Historical accounts of Thorfinn end pretty soon so historical accuracy after this is irrelevant
