Is Rising Of The Shield Hero worth watching?

I was listening to some anime ost until Rise came up and it was fire that I got interested in what anime it's in and it's Rising of the shield hero.
What I need to know is the basic plot or synopsis of this anime up until the season 3 (and maybe the upcoming s4)
(I was a bit surprised to see that Naofumi buys a demi-human slave to accompany him in the description)

for me Naofumi was too piece of shit for me, but i ended S1, started the second and was too boring. The start is one of the best, then It goes down.

season 1 is great, from the start till the end. if you're invested in the characters and world, watch season 2 although just know the adaption compared to the novels is absolutely horrendous, it's still enjoyable some what in the second half, season 3 however follows the novels closely, but it adapts the weakest parts of the story in my opinion. out of 12 episodes in season 3 you have 8 good episodes. Visually, season 3 looks the best out of both season 1 & 2.

Some of us actually enjoyed the whole thing, although I respect personal choice. That’s why it’s a waste of time asking, you will always be put off by elitist anime snobs and encouraged by anime fans like myself. You are the only one who can apply your own taste.
But also from your comment on buying a slave, you may be too invested in real world morals to accept a guy who buys slaves to help them.

I thought the first season was decent (good for Isekai standards). The hook was decent enough and the characters are very likeable.

Season 2 is absolute dogshit though. Awfull animation and horrid pacing. For me this ruined any interest in the rest of the series.

Season 3 seems to have fixed most of those problems, but even then I wouldn't recommend the series just because of season 2 alone.

So short answer No, long answer is that you definitely should not watch the series because even at its best (First half of S1) its a pretty shallow adventure story. If you enjoy the action or enjoy the cast then you might enjoy it. However if you're expecting some deep or profound kind of story this series will just not give it to you, has horrendous issues with pacing (In S2 they turn the whole pocket dimension arc into 1 episode) the series is often downright cheesy and contrived in S2 Kyo gets clapped by the power of friendship essentially. In S1 the female cast is just totally either in love with Naofumi or is the spawn of satan. It genuinely feels really sexist and feeds into very regressive ideologies about women.

I watched 1st season and really liked it (for me it's 8/10).
But then I watched 2nd season and I was very disappointed.
When 3rd season aired I watched about 5 episodes and then dropped it. I don't regret it at all.

Overall I'll give it a 5.5/10.

If they stopped at 1st season I would be glad, because after that was absolute horse shit.

In my opinion, there is so much great manga and anime out there, that there is no point wasting your time watching this as I did... Its just another isekai that doesn't do anything particularly special. But im not really a huge isekai fan nowadays, so if you like isekai, season 1 is worth watching at least.

Watch till Episode 5 of Season 1 (I believe it was Ep.5... the episode where Raphtalia swears to become Naofumi's sword). Everything goes downhill from there.

Seems most people got this right for recommendations. Just watch the first season its a proper adaptation with good animation, and it has the strongest story arcs of the show. The first season is such a vibe and the other two seasons just fall into generic isekai slop.

S1 was really great, but s2 was really disappointing, s3 was fine. So I'd recommend you to watch the S1 and then just speed run s2 and finish with s3

second 1 fire, 2nd season boring, 3rd idk yet cause I haven't seen it. I've practically forgotten everything that's happened so I might not watch s3 at all.

with all that being said, I'd watch it again if I could go back in time and tell my self if it was a waste of time or not. Therefore, why not watch it. some people liked the show enough to get over s2 but it's not for everyone.

The first season was great. It gives a satisfying ending in the last episode. After that, it went downhill for the most part in the story. I watched the other 2 seasons, but I don't remember them as well I do the first.

Shield Hero receives a lot of hate and idek why, lol.
Personally, I'd recommend it. SW and s3 weren't up to s1 but they're interesting too.
Plus a s4 is coming so if you decide that you want to watch just s1 and stop there, don't watch it at all since you won't get the maximum satisfaction from the anime.
