For the Fiend to take the life of the Hound, there's no way that Shinpachi would stand aside for this matter, and face it head strong he will like the samurai he once was, being from a once prestigious family that subsequently met with Kondo and formed the Miburo. And Shinpachi doesn't slack in the use of the sword that perfectly suited him against the Fiend, being like a fearless samurai.

On the other end, Hijikata dealing with yet another member of the Risshidan with his literate Talk no Jutsu, yet he still stands for his sword skills that are a worthy match against the man whose predictable swordsmanship is his own Achilles' Heel. Despite that, it's the fact that he met Sakura that helped him regain his vision and fight to his will.

Now it's Hajime's turn, how will he deal with his?

Some great fights on the bridges! Nagakura getting his backstory explained during his fight. Showing how he was from a noble household brought up proper but he longed for the sword and adventure. His fight against that one blood rissidian member really showed Nagakura versatility. He could use those different types of swords so easily and with strength. Not needing any time to learn or acclimate, Nagakura is definitely a natural with the blade. I'm glad he cut down that cruel guy who stabbed the honorable old man. Nagakura did the old timer a great service ending his killer. Hijikata doing his best as well, fighting a very boisterous opponent. This guy sure loves bragging about all the famous people he's met. I agree with Hijikata that stuff was getting annoying! Like who are those guys?!?! Its so funny seeing someone that arrogant being chopped down by mere perspective. Hijikata cutting through that chain mail the guy was wearing too. Hijikata perfectly content just being an ordinary guy, he doesn't need to be famous or rub elbows with them. Just a salt of the earth type of man.

@Dukino Really, who cares about how many famous swordsmen & master swordsman you know? Do you think name dropping was going to impress a Miburo? Honestly, guy was full of himself.

That old man who saw oppression of the weak as an injustice was killed by a fellow Risshidan member who espouses a survival of the fittest view of the world. Shinpachi proves he is a Samurai going up against the Fiend in Iaijutsu.

The opponents never shut up, Hijikata defeats the loudmouth Samurai who boasts about his connections all the while proving reputation isn't everything as he wins with the sword Sakura, a woman, forged. Ironically its Hijikata Toshizō and the Mibu Rōshigumi who will go down in history.

I hope we find out Saitō Hajime II's backstory in the next episode centered on him.

Novels I have read/am reading pending approval: since November 10 2022

Shinpachi and Toshizou both showed there sword skills and they are no jocks. The way they each whooped there opponents asses like there opponents were some toddlers.

It's such a shame that old man's dead but the time doesn't stop for anyone.
