it's not even that good. it's ok i guess. i enjoyed it (mainly because I watched this weekly and didn't focus a lot on it) but looking at it critically, it's not that great.
You won't, just as you said. People have their own tastes, and that's why I shared my opinion. It’s okay to enjoy something even if it’s not universally loved. Maybe you're right that people think this anime is nothing special, but it actually has its own uniqueness. Even though I found episodes 10 to 13 quite disappointing (maybe they gave up on the anime), it doesn't change the fact that this anime has its special qualities. Among the many generic isekai anime with template stories i watched, I think this one is still better. I just don’t understand why it’s not very popular—whether in the community or in short clips. In my opinion, this anime is just unlucky. Even so, I’m still curious about others’ opinions.

The anime starts pretty well. The concept of time traveling is simple but effective, the focus on creating a game with old technologies is interesting and overall the episodes are cozy to watch; the experience is similar to a CGDCT. I dunno how much the representation of old game companies is accurate, but the vibe is good, and that's what counts.
Overall the episodes of the first half are both interesting and pleasant to watch.
But from a certain point... what the hell?
The last episodes are just terrible. How did we pass form a workplace anime with the time traveling twist to... this? Corps experimenting on humans for the sake of "creativity" or whatever the hell was that. Saving the world or some shit like that? Hell nah. And the aliens (or whatever they were) part just felt like it had to be some kind of "profound part" but the delivery was just terrible.
I must be honest, I don't remember much of the second half of the anime, but I DO remember that I didn't like that. It was completely unaligned from what the show seems to be in the first half, and the execution is just BAD, from story writing to animation.
So... yeah. Tl,dr:
- Good and interesting premise.
- Questionable development, but still nice, I guess.
- Bad finale in both concept and execution.
i loved it at first, because it felt like an 2000s anime, but later there was too much time travel sci fi stuff and... i LOVE time travel, but it just doesn't fit in this anime.
As someone who wrote a negative review on it, I can chime in a bit. I expected 16 bit sensation to be Shirobako but for the indie VN community in the 90s. Besides passion and dithering, I came out of the show without much more knowledge on that topic.
It failed to deliver what would have gotten it a large audience (being Shirobako but for 80s-90s VN community). At least in MAL, with lower popularity, you get more lower ratings as people who watch everything tend to eventually rate lower as less things stand out if you watch everything, and since 16 bit sensation did not do anything outstanding, they rate it as average thus its rating of 6.90 which I would assume is underrated for those who do like the show.
It was a fun show, but it really just lost focus and tried too hard to make the consequences for time travel and explaining said time travel with aliens
I REALLY enjoyed it at first, especially as a visual novel enjoyer, but the last few episodes were totally off the rails. Other than that, the fact that it’s a relatively unknown studio didn’t help them. There are lots of good underrated anime though, so being that isn’t necessarily a bad thing!
1. It diverges from the source material to tell a whole new story about a whole new character and takes on a whole new genre as a result. Fans of the original probably don’t like this.
2. It’s about a niche within a niche within a niche. Anime culture > Game Development > Bishojo game development > Game history focusing on Bishojo games
3. It blends aliens into what appears to be just a time travel story for seemingly no thematic reason other than “it emphasizes the human creative spirit.” Thematically, the alien involvement doesn’t line up with the game development/game history/time travel stuff. It comes out of nowhere and kinda explains the time travel… but without really explaining anything and leaving more questions than answers in-universe.
I can totally get why this anime isn’t for everyone. It requires an understanding of what Bishojo games are and how games and technology advanced through history so that you can truly grasp what this story does. It tells about the history of Bishojo game development and illustrates the less-understood way that Bishojo games are a big part of what made anime and Akiba what they are today. And in an age where companies want to automate more and more of the game development process, it doubles down on the idea that “anything made by humans have a special power that cannot be replicated by anything other than passion.”
It’s a strong anime with a strong message for those who understand it… not to mention the way alternate present day was just insane and fun to look at how it got there…. But it’s very very niche because of that extremely narrow focus. I think that’s probably why the low average rating.
I got a sharp opinion on it, though spoiler warning for the last paragraph as I delve more into the manga. Understandable warming, given you like the anime a lot and most likely have interest in the source material also.
Konoha has a nice design, but her personality became laughably degrading very quickly. I know most post-2010s anime personalities began to take on a form of one per character with minimal depth in the majority of them, but Idk if I can even say Konoha has a personality at all. She's overly enthusiastic as an attempt to give her a quirk, but then she's constantly in Help Mode nonstop with an occasional flourished "bonding moment" that typically still ends with her being much too hyper, a joke or both. As the main character, it's a lot to deal with and you hardly get to sit down in a not-so-good way.
Speaking of, the real main character from the source material became delegated to one of the less important side characters besides her introductory. And then later, even less important once we were introduced to Touya. As someone who went to the source material pretty quickly, I realized pretty rapidly how much was modified.
Were there good moments? Definitely. It was great during the first half to see it focus on such a niche topic for an anime the way it was doing it. It could've been a cozy, or. Guess not because Konaha would still be too loud. But pretty okay Slice of Life that ends with her appreciating the past, learning so much about why her passion means something and ultimately not changing it at all instead of going through whatever the hell the second half was. The ED was nice to listen to. When it focused more on Konoha being a guest star in a different narrative, the dynamic could remain entertaining enough. It's really the direction it chose to go that led to its downfall.
I would very much like to see it receive a reboot, or rather deboot(?) another decade down the road to restore it to how the source material conveys things. Though it would definitely need to be the highest rating an anime could have, effectively giving it a difficult topic to gain traction and much less viewers due to its hurdle. But given its subject matter, would be necessary for the narrative. Worst-case, second highest rating with mosaics for certain parts, but no writing context removed. The original would make for a very nice Slice of Life with a unique writing schtick.
The alien part was cool, but the last episode nah...
9 ep is Master piece i like the design of alien home, its a bit enigmatic and story for use the emotion of this guy Yes i forgot his name dementia i guess
Maybe i Will rewatch soon i really like corpo vibe
But inrl i would rather would avoid work as family acompany kind of thing
I get that there are many animes , movies, etc. that aren't quite likable but still there are some people out there loves it ..
Now the one thing this anime has
Is that the main character in the Manga is Meiko Uehara if you saw the Manga cover or just read the first chapter of the Manga
Konoha isn't even there as a side character ... So you know what i mean
In Anime there is totally different story/main character from the Manga, now I don't know why they did this ..
Now let's talk about
Konoha ...hmmm I don't know what to talk about her she is just hella annoying that's all ...
Being obsessed with cute anime girls and drooling water from her mouth in the train the perfect creepy otaku ..
Now let me tell you why I'm saying she is the dumbest character i have seen,
After finishing the game(visual novel) with everyone she has left for the future
And when she got there everything has been changed and she told Mamoru , " I don't know why this happens i just want to make game with everyone happily"
And that's the time i told myself I don't have any wil power left in my body to take this shit ....
