| No way it's this bad!! Apparently this version is based more on anime adaptation rather than original manga, but it's just terrible. The first chapter at least has some introduction, but after that it's just the most basic monster of the week formula. But then, even compared to other series that rely on the same thing, it's too damn repeatable! Each monster after each moster, they come, attack Devilman a tiny bit, maybe mess a little with Miki or her brother, and then Akira kills them immidiately with some boring shit like devil kick! or devil beam! etc. The way Sirene was treated... unforgivable, none of her majestic self left. It's still bloody like the Nagai's manga, I guess the main difference is that there's less nudity, and Miki isn't victim of rape attempts this time, so good for her. Other than that Asuka doesn't apparently exist in this universe. And the rest is just pure boredom. Even the ending, looks like it was cancelled or something, there's no epilogue of any kind. One of the worst manga series I ever read. Just read the original, please. 2/10 |

| very good manga, too bad it cuts a lot from the slice of life scenes from the anime in favor of action. The long chapters which are like two or three are on par with the tv show though. It's not the forced emo bullshit of Devilman vol 5, that shit was bad. 7/10 read this if you liked the anime, don't bother with Crybaby. |

| this might be just me personally, but I once had a nightmare of a lime monster in sunglasses that cut my cheeks open like a Chelsea smile, and it kind of looked like the villain from this last chapter lmao. So maybe just due to my own personal nightmares, being reminding of that was probably more scary than most horror manga can ever hope to be. I mean this doesn't even necessarily try to be overly scary either, and it shouldn't as the adaptation of the toned down anime. all that said, this chapter, and the last two were pretty underwhelming, and not a great finale to the series. But I guess it's fine. Not quite enough that I would actually recommend it to anyone tho. what were those adverts for what looked like a live action devilman? I found myself more interested in those lol, they looked super cool. I hope it is a live action I could still find and watch, rather than like a stage play or something that there could be no almost proper record of now. |
