An official website for an anime adaptation of Angyaman's Ramen Akaneko (Red Cat Ramen) manga opened on Sunday and revealed a teaser visual (pictured).

Angyaman originally submitted the manga as a webcomic to the Jump Rookie website in November 2021, where it ranked first place. The manga then began as an indie serialization for 29 chapters from March to October 2022 in Shounen Jump+ and was promoted to an official serialization the next week. Shueisha shipped the fifth volume on September 4.

Ramen Akaneko has been published digitally in English through the MANGA Plus website.

Synopsis
Meet Tamako, who's found her way into an interview at a ramen shop run solely by cats. When the feline manager asks if she likes cats, Tamako admits that she's actually more of a dog person...only to be hired on the spot! But her job description isn't quite what she expects — rather than serving ramen, she's now a dedicated cat caretaker...?! (Source: MANGA Plus)

This isn't even a joke question, but how many people actually watch these kinds of shows lol?

@EcchiGodMamster Check out this season's discussion of a show about a witch and her adoptive mother, and the past discussion of a show about a cat-loving alien. While it's not too weird, a fairly noticeable number enjoy it. It's still too crazy for normies, but that even makes it funny to a certain extent.

i was actually watching the witch show but i got bored, but that show is far less surprising than something like this, this seems incredibly niche

this is the kind of show people even on a site like this will probably never even know exists

@EcchiGodMamster Have you ever heard of the term "weird Japanese series"? This meme was originally used for Japanese advertisements and game shows, but is essentially universal.

I've only vaguely heard of this manga, since it got 5th place for the Next Manga Awards (5th place, web manga) for 2022. Didn't expect an anime adaptation lmao.

I've been following the manga since it was just a web comic on Shounen Jump Rookie. It's amazing how it climbed up from an indie serialization to an official one. The premise of a ramen shop run by cats is just so quirky and fun - and the twist with Tamako's job turning into a cat caretaker instead of a ramen server had me hooked from the start.

I love cats, I love every kind of cat, I just want to hold them but I can't! Can't hold every cat!

Looking forward to this show!
