You know, I didn't think much about it since it's just a very "anime" catchphrase, but I'm not really sure how I'd explain what it means. I guess it's trying to say that technological development is propelled by greed? That if someone is satisfied with something they won't try to improve it? I don't really know.

Basically ryusui and francois believe is that greed is the driving force of the world. Without greed the world would come to a halt as people would stop doing shit cause they don’t want anything. So if there wasn’t greed the world would be wrong as there would be no advancements. Therefore greed equals justice.

somehow your explanation makes no sense and yet it makes complete sense... i guess Francois's quote really is quite a complicated topic

Yeah.. to relate is to a more well known phrase.. it’s basically saying “money makes the world go round.”

So in the manga translation it’s actually “Desire is noble” basically meaning that to desire is a natural way of life. Francois understands Ryusui’s need to have everything as him simply wanting to experience obtaining everything the world can give him.

Desire is Noble is my favourite quote from the manga and I’m so mad they translated it differently here (if it’s more correct I don’t care sue me)

It's a sort of proverb.

Something on the line as "Romance in War" "Knowledge is Power" etc etc.

I am already getting tired of this dude, time to let him go/clip him away into obscurity. After all his talents can go just so far before they become obsolete/unnecessary.
Me every time I hear the word "reparations": 🤣🤣🤣

I see it in a different way. Remove the context and think about it literally. “Greed equals justice.” Greed is the pursuit of your own desires and wants. Justice is the accountability of causing an effect, essentially getting what you deserve. There’s a middleman between desire and getting that which you desire. To get the end result of your greed, the greedy person has to exert force or put something in. To me, “greed equals justice” means if you want something, you’ll get out whatever you put in. Ryusui wants the world and he’s willing to put world-level effort to get it. The same way if you want something and put no effort in, you get nothing in return. “Greed equals justice.”

It also explains why François doesn’t see Ryusui as self-indulgent. While self-indulgence is attributed to pleasure, Ryusui’s greed comes from his belief in his work ethic. He believes because he can do something, he should do something. His greed is much more self-actualistic than hedonic. François was probably alluding to him simply being ambitious rather than self-indulgent.
