These are basically the slower emotional tracks in such genres.
Think stuff like Nothing Else Matters by Metallica or Every Rose Has Its Thorn by Poison.

Now, this wouldn't come off as much of a surprise to anyone who knows that my favorite album is When The Kite String Pops and I will shill that album till the ends of the fucking earth.
But yeah, it's Scream of the Butterfly by Acid Bath, the main ballad that sits at the half-way point in the album.
It's a song that's as disturbing as it is beautiful. In my opinion at least.
The bassline feels like a lullaby that's been given a mournful tone.
Which fits the themes found in the album perfectly.
But nuff said. I could talk about WTKSP all day. It's my favorite metal album period.

So hbu?
What are your favorite metal or rock ballads?

Would be nice to understand Japanesee so I'd pick a "Slower" version of what I listen cause I can't tell which is sad which isn't x)
Some of them I was able to check the lyrics so they have some themes fittings to being emotional, but for some else I couldn't find so it is a guess x)

Wagamama Rakia - Survive
Sennzai - Unrequited
Aldious - Spirit Black
Ironbunny - Struggle Lover
Asura - Empress
Ganglion - Save your Heart
Rie aka Suzaku - Faith
Tears of Tragedy - Prison of Abyss
Takamachi Walk - Forget Me

I would say no because it does have some heavy parts to it. I've noticed that such tracks are entirely acoustic as well.

“In my life” by The Beatles because it’s one of my fav songs of all time but I don’t really think of it as a ballad
I think “Wish you were here” by Pink Floyd is a good fit

Cemetary Gates by Pantera is the first thing coming to mind, though my personal choice would be Glassjaw's Ape Dos Mil.

Anathema's One Last Goodbye

If you went through the pain of losing a parent this song may destroy you.

I will get around to that, I swear. That's a good pick though.

My picks:

Manowar - Kingdom Come

Warlock - Kiss of Death

Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark

This ground is soiled by those before me and their lies. I dare not look up for on me I feel their eyes

It's fine man. Would like to hear your thoughts if you do listen to the album.
They took a lot of inspiration from other extreme metal subgenres.

Not exactly a ballad but I like the melancholic feeling going on in some Pink Floyd songs such as Hey You, Echoes and Wish You Were Here.

However if we are talking about a sad rock song that labelled as ballad, my favorite would be this;

Extremely overrated response but have to go with Snuff by Slipknot as it was the first thing that really came to mind.
