Blue Protocol is an upcoming F2P (Free to Play) MMORPG by Bandai Namco. They have created a lot of great games such as 'Tales of' series, as well as Scarlet Nexus, Code Vein, God Eater, etc. They have also published other great games such as Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Divinity Sin 2, etc.

Blue Protocol has been in the dark for a long time, but they just recently (15-11-2022) announced that Blue Protocol will release in Japan, early spring 2023.

They are interested in a worldwide release, but have yet to announce anything big about it yet.

The game is very PVE focused, and doesn't have any PVP announced whatsoever.

Is anyone else interested in this game?

I've personally always been a bit wary of F2P-style games, especially MMORPG's. However, I'm willing to give Bandai Namco a chance since they have a pretty good track record when it comes to games. They have also shown great interest to make the game worldwide and not Japan-focused only.

Looking forward to this, hopefully we'll get a global release shortly after the JP one.

Am not quite sure what you mean by this since we have no idea what the model will be like.

They have yet to announce what sort of payment method they will have (except for F2P), but have shown interest towards cash-shop cosmetics (whether that is a fakeout or not will remain to be seen.)

But so far there's no "gacha trash" to be seen, so am interested to hear what you two got to say and what insight you have.

You'd have to be living under a rock to think that a F2P anime game would use any other model.

Not at all, I'm well aware of how the market can look like—but I also don't want to throw comments about something I don't know what it will be like yet. If it comes to that they will be using "gacha shit" I will critique it then. But as of now there's no clear sign of it.

The game will almost certainly include gacha mechanics given that it's free to play. That's not a bad thing. They have to earn revenue somehow so that they can pay the developers and pay for the server costs and other costs associated with maintaining the game. The question shouldn't be if they will add gacha, that's a given. Rather, the question should be if their implementation will be fair to players: will the game be pay to win? will they make rates for ultra rare items astronomically low? Will free to play users be able to enjoy the game even without ever spending a dime?
another thing worth mentioning is the possibility of censorship in the global release (they don't want to upset a certain country that starts with C)
You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

NGL, it does look good. But if it's gacha, and I'm 99.8% sure it would be, then that's a hard pass for me.

- Yeah, i already play F2P Anime MMORPG (Not Single Online games like most phone games nowadays) since grade schooler and it's pretty much doable even without spending money and i can buy IM from IM seller using in game money. idk about blue protocol because it's from JP, most MMORPG that i play is from TW and KR.
- I just hope they separate asia and western management if they plan to censor western version. usually who manage asia MMO games is SG or TW, and for C usually they just censor for their own country.

It's definitelyt a worry that a gacha-like system can appear. I truly hope for the best that it won't. So far, Bandai Namco haven't shown any interest towards a gacha-system, and there's been no gacha elements on their closed betas, so here's hoping that they will take another route. They have talked about a cash shop and cosmetics. That's about it.

But if there are gacha elements announced at some point, I too will probably give the game a big pass, just like I did with Lost Ark despite people hyping it up a lot.

But as of now, I'm interested in the game and will see what they have to offer.

The only protocol I'm aware of is Alpha Protocol. Don't be Blue, be Alpha!

Unironically one of the best Western rpgs out there.
