I'm a university student, but I'm looking for a summer job. Why is it so hard!?!
As I finished uni for the year a while back, I've been doing casual work as a Teaching Assistant at a high school.
The pay is terrible. TA's are too under-appreciated, and it's really sad =[

I have no idea what sort of job I want when I leave university though (I plan on being a CIR in Japan for a few years when I graduate.. but who knows, I may not get picked to be one D= )

I'm a student (currently at the 3rd term of my Master's degree). One more year to go and I'll be done with that, yay! :)
Each problem that I solved became a rule, which served afterwards to solve other problems.

I've read all the old posts in this forum but I was fairly sure I had responded to it.

Then I realized that the reason I read all the responses but didn't respond was because this is a duplicate thread of a duplicate thread of a thread XINIL started.

Duplicate: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=2397 (that was before this thread)

IN the duplicate I said:

No Job for me....

I need a summer job.... But I would rather watch anime as my Job. Or add manga to the Manga DB.. That can be my "job" where I get paid in awesome. o.O
(wow I never make the o.O face anymore and I think that is lame. p.s. I am an ex manga mod, later I was a db admin, quit in fit of rage etc).

After I graduated I got a job at a coffee shop, worked there for 7 months while going to university, took a month off, worked at a different coffee shop, then during last school year I was a full time university student with no job, and now I'm working at the first coffee shop again. I needed a job fast. :<

I'm an office assistant for a small company which provides Environmental services.

TRUST ME, most of the posts that I make in MAL are done while I'm at my job :)

I won't say how much I make (I think it's pretty good for someone who is still in College), but I do get a lot of benefits.

I am at work right now. I work for a company thats like a group home, but they send groups of three to live in houses and are monitored by staff 24 hours a day.
I work the grave shift at one of these houses, I go check on the three every thirty minutes to make sure they have not run away or hurt themselves. The best part is I am allowed to to bring a game system or a laptop. I watch a lot of anime, surf the netl, play roms ect ect.
I work 40 hours a week with health insurance and pretty good pay.

No job right now. My town is really small and job prospects are slim to nil for someone my age (19). All the companies want high school students or older folks. My age range is expected to be in college or not living in the town anymore.

Before I moved back to this town, I used to make fresh pizzas for a grocery store. None of them were cooked just the take and bake kind. So I'd put pizzas together, wrap them, and put them in a refrigerated shelfing unit. Only made minimum wage... but it paid my share of the rent and allowed me to do a lot of traveling and partying.

Before that I worked as a subcontractor for HUD (Housing Under Development) cleaning out and doing maintenance work for houses that have been repossessed. I wish I still had that job. The pay was great and most of the houses had lots of leftover things. The only problem with that job was from time to time we'd get drug houses and would have to wear masks and whatnot while finding and cleaning up (meth, coke, crack, weed, etc...).

So right now, I'm in the search for a job. Money is very much needed. I've got some fines that need to be paid and would really love to get out my parents house and back on my own again.

I'm not technically working, I'm studying for my PhD in plant biotechnology. The pay is nada, but I won scholarships of my own that got me €21k per year for the first three years which is way above the average. But for my fourth year they just paid my fees, so I'm pretty broke until I write up and get a real job :)

I'm only fifteen, but I like to earn money any way I can.

I busk in the city a lot, which is actually a really good way of getting money. I mean, it's not hard, and the most I've ever earnt is £300 in two hours. :')
I also get people to hire me to sing at parties and wedding and the like. Only really friends and friends of friends and relatives, but I get loads of money from people doing that. Plus, it's fun. X'D

I work for Microsoft, a company practically everyone knows... :P
It pays ok, and while the hours are a bit brutal, I kinda like them.
I read all my manga while at work, so it is rather nice that I am earning my money, and getting to keep increasing that reading list...

I have too much dignity to even consider living with my parents, and honestly hated living with them when I had to, I would pick living on the streets for the rest of my life over spending a week with them... >.> never really got the whole "mouche" thing...but hey, to each their own. I guess saving money is of little consequence to me, since I can spend about as recklessly as I desire and still have money going into savings each month.. :\

By default I say I'm a (college) student because it's my "main priority" sort of job, but in my double life, I'm currently a part time customer service rep at my local newspaper. It's an alright job. I say "alright" because of the frustrating people I deal with at times, and occasionally some confusion with the database we use. But definitely not my coworkers. I think they're really awesome people and I get along with all of them. :D

We used to be able to get onto the internet at our leisure as long as we were working when we needed to be working and as long as we weren't assisting a customer. But they banned that, so we don't get to use the internet at work anymore. A total bummer.

Otherwise I have a couple hour break on campus... and I have a few days off to get schoolwork done in between my work schedule.

freelance graphic design (good spending $$)

Professional dancer (not in the last year though but that was also good spending/pocket $$)

audio visual technician (only 6 hours a week though hardly even considered work but its still 120$ a gig ^^ heh)

I live a busy life.. yet i still watch way too much anime :P

Verizon production assistant, basically a typical warehouse job with a few responsibilities, nothing major, forklift driving, handling shipments, dealing the material handlers and process the merchandise. Not a great job but for the time being given the economy im grateful.

You need experience to get experience (I'm in the same boat), so just spam out CVs, make sure you tweak it so that it shows your skills and qualities and hope for a catch.

But on that note: I'm a NEET, if I can't find a job within a good while I'm going to apply for some IT and computing course to up my skills and CV, then try again.
