When I watched Steins Gate 0, the sad tone of the series peaked my interest of the series. It was cool to see the characters older and how they were handling without the real Kurisu. Found it more emotional and interesting than the original. For me, the original took atleast 12 eps to get interesting, but I found Steins Gate 0 to be interesting from the get go.
The series just impacted me more than the original and I loved the new character that they introduced. Not to mention the ending has the be one the best I've seen in anime.

I enjoy them both equally. especially after re-watching the whole series I started noticing a lot of details that I didn't notice when I first started watching it. Steins;Gate 0 also had an extremely satisfying and fitting ending, which I kind of missed in the first season.
They are both masterpieces really.

As someone who's watched steins gate, steins gate 0, played steins gate, and steins gate 0, I prefer the OG story over 0. That's probably coz I really like Makise and dynamic with Okabe and her exclusion from 0 made it less engaging for me.

I'll also add that the anime for SG0 actually only covers half the visual novel. The less eventful half too. You can't really blame anyone but if you liked the anime for SG0 then I HEAVILY recommend playing through the Visual novel to get the whole story.

Yeah I really enjoyed 0, but the lack of Makise (a real one anyway lol) is what makes it fall behind the OG for me.

Yes, it was much better in my opinion (not to say the original was bad or anything).

Even more interesting characters, less focus on Makise (not her biggest fan), more mysterious atmosphere, and better story direction (which is impressive since you end up knowing when and where it'll conclude logically). And most of all, Okabe Rintarou totally stealing the show.

no, not rly. okabe was doing the same one emotion and tutturu had little to no character development, even tho anime isnt 12 episodes, it's almost 50 with specials. if she was the same in 24 episodes i gave her a pass, but more felt worse.

I have it slightly behind the original. I gave the original a 10 and 0 a 9 but it’s a very high 9 imo. 0 is truly amazing too, I’m glad other people think so too.

The plot is so damn slow.

Little to no comedy.

Bad action scenes.

Forgettable Villain.

Kagari.

Amadeus was nearly useless.

As you can tell, i think it is so inferior to the original.

imo the second season was what made the first 10x better.
But, the first half of Steins;Gate was even more slow paced and we had to make it to the last few EPs for everything to pick up drastically and pay-off satisfyingly.
I've had a lot of friends who dropped the show halfway through Steins;Gate 0 :(

I stayed for the characters and that kept me hooked. Also Amadeus ๐ŸŒš

I agree with you. Steins Gate 0 is more entertaining and slightly better than the original, and made steins gate better by adding onto the ending and explaining.

i think they both are amazing shows but s;g 0 only work that well cause you dont have that much mystery compared to watching s;g for the first time.
on my second watch its hard to pick a favourite, they both have great moments but nothing beats the original.

The plot was significantly weaker in S;G 0, which is pretty much my only problem with the show.

The characters and music were as amazing as ever.

I'm glad you enjoyed Steins;Gate 0, good for you, as for me I've found Steins;Gate 0 to be pretty shitty. I did enjoy a couple of episodes though but as a whole, that anime was really bad and doesn't compare to Steins;Gate.

Steins;Gate 0 took forever to freaking get anywhere, it only started going somewhere in the last couple of episodes so meh.

I didn’t enjoy one more than the other but I’ll say this, it’s S;G 0 what makes S;G a 10 for me, so all rounded up they’re a 10.

I honestly can’t decide, but at the very least I love 0 just as much as the original. I loved Steins;Gate, but the grand scale of the plot doesn’t really leave much time to focus on the characters, instead focusing solely on Okabe’s struggle to reach the Steins;Gate world line.

In 0 we get such a nice focus on all the characters, and such a cool tie-up of all the loose threads from the original series. I’m still super happy we got an adaptation of Steins;Gate 0 because it’s such a great addition to the whole story.

I liked the original better, but Steins;Gate 0 represented well what dualism is and had a more prominent introduction of suffering and guilt. It became more seinen, which gave it a more mature look and gave it a thoughtful closure with the ending. I loved this one a lot, but I prefer the original. Steins;gate 0 is more sentimental and melancholic and that is its essence and what makes it good

Wow, I disagree pretty hard on this one, if anything, Steins;Gate 0 is actually more shounen with all the super-power bullshitery that happened in it like Kagari killing dozens of soldiers all by herself, moving at the speed of sound to dodge bullets in the middle of the warzone, slashing heads off with her bare hands with her Matrix-like kung-fu, tanking bullets like Terminator and Robocop combined and if that's not enough, we also have motherfucking Samurais later on doing the same shit, using swords to kill soldiers while they are shooting at you with machine guns.

How on earth is crap like this more "Mature" or "Seinen", this is the complete opposite, this is some childish shounen crap and Steins;Gate 0 had plenty of it.

IMHO, Steins;Gate 0 is too shounen and childish, Steins;Gate is the "Mature" one in the 2nd half and up.

I just finished 0 and honestly i would give it a 8/10. Sure, the story is pretty good but i believe they could've ventured forth on some untapped elements throughout the show. Like, with the OG you still had that sense of things somewhat making sense w/ equations and theories and whatnot. With 0, it just feels like fantasy w/ a hint of sci. like 10% sci and 90% fi, while the OG was 50/50
ik i probs shouldn't compare the two so heavily, considering they were years apart but if they carry the same name, then to me its just like comparing season one and two of an anime
also i felt like 0 added to the story, but didnt add depth to it, u know?

They are not season 1 and 2. Steins;Gate 0 is a side entry in the Steins;Gate subseries in the Science Adventure series. As a side entry, obviously it didn't have the same amount of budget and care as main entry

...was astonished to realize that zero is much more serious business than og, which for me was actually quite a childish show. and no, i'm not speaking about the "depressed" atmosphere; but the very idea of all that happening. it really depicts the internal struggle of every person who tries to handle this world as seriously as possible, and the ending is truly amazing – depicting how things *truly are*. the same thing amazed me in mushishi, for example, where ginko had to cope with "incurable" illnesses
