What a roller coaster of an episode.
Connecting Purin backstory to an arc of the first SAC. Make me feel sad. But then scared, that the Tachikomas are building a Ghost,.
And putting the 1A84 code, that may be problem, after the personal software talk. From what I understood Purin was good, because her post-human code was good.

I wanted that Esaki be alive with some backup thing, but this is is crazy.

Was this episode a new low for SAC_2045?

Yes it was.

The most entertaining part of it was me humming "Puri-puri-puririn..." while watching it.

I quite like SAC_2045, but this is a mess. Purin wasn't that good of an addition in the first place, but with this episode's backstory they gave it some weight at least. If she had stayed dead. But now they have to cheapen it by creating a new version of her? Why? She's not the type of character you desperately need to cling to.

Loved the Tachikoma detective scenes. Always a treat. Also found Purin's backstory to be good in the sense that it reminded me of old GiTS storytelling. However, it falls short of being great because of the visual style they went with. The Batou-Purin scene after he finds her would have felt significantly more impactful with traditional 2d animation. I feel the CG here is good for action scenes but not so much for conveying emotions.

Not at all happy with the ending. A clone. It's not the real her. Either keep her alive, or kill her off. Killing her off was such a dumb move in retrospect.

They killed off the pink-haired girl the minute she became an important character, after we wondered why she was there in the first place. Pretty weird, and too sharp of a turn for any modern anime show, but...

To be honest, it made me sad but didn't harsh my buzz all that much. I'm still hoping for a resurrection/redemption arc but it would be pitiful if she never shows up again. She like Ghost in the Shell-Jesus Gospels version. She died for the Ghost's sins. Amen.

I can't believe this whole backstory and poof!

I hope the creators aren't mocking us with her story...I hope there's some redemption along the way.

Oh boy, we're going the route of closing someone with the memories it left behind.
Oh and some 1A84 sprinkled in there again aswell ...

The backstory involving Batou was really well done though, really sad too.
I hope the cloning is executed well but not sure how I feel about it now.

I legitimately teared up, this episode was so heart wrenching.

Now we see that one of the tachikomas had 1A84, and now it's been combined with Purin's virtual persona. Very scare things are coming.

The feels. I didn’t think CGI could display emotion like that but it did. She just wanted to do good like Batou did and she wanted to work alongside him. Like come on, that just hits the feels so hard.
Vandelay Industries, this is George Can’t-Stand-Ya speaking, how may I assist you?

This episode is brilliant in the way only Kamiyama's Ghost in the Shell can be-
It's simultaneously a call-back to the Tachikoma episode in Season 1; where they're trying to figure out whether they'll be scrapped- but here it also calls back to another episode in the same season (I think) where Batou tracks down Marco Amoretti who was a Special Forces soldier who went AWOL and two CIA Agents (another CIA connection!) came to ask Section 9 to take him into custody. It was one of the best episodes of the original Stand Alone Complex, and where Batou at the end is having a horrible memory of holding a young girl as she's dying; and at the end Motoko says to him "You know you saved one this time"
It echoes of Batou having saved Purin, when they were investigating Marco's murders all those years ago........ the emotions are up to 11 with this, it's very dark but also has an element of love. Batou is so gruff, even more like that when he was younger- but children are who he fights to protect. Little Purin squeaking and crying next to him when her tears fall into the mango pudding was beyond sad.... so sad
