Nothing is cooler than a sleeping Zenitsu, I'm a Zenitsu hater but I will admit that he's the best character around when he's asleep.

Tanjiro should buy sleeping pills from the market and put him to sleep 24/7, that would be so good.

It's just that when he closes his eyes, he feels more confident.

If he sees scary stuff, he screams.

"Sleep Mode" is just him unconsciously using his actual skill because he considers himself a weakling. So to answer the question, he'll sleep as long as possible until he gets the job done or is actually incapacitated

His sleeping isn’t a “mode.” When he’s asleep his instincts take over and he performs at the best of his ability without fear.

Zenitsu crying all the time and becoming a badass when he sleeps is my favorite thing about DS. But in this season having him asleep throughout the fight somewhat makes him less of a badass.
