| I don’t think so. I loved the anime a lot and I give it props for mixing 2 opposite genres. I thought it was a very wholesome and chill anime. I liked the music and animation too. The ghosts genuinely looked scary. However, a few anime that came out this year we’re just mind blowing. Tokyo revengers was huge this year. ousama ranking Was another unique anime. I haven’t watched to you eternity and mushoku but I heard they were just really amazing. As of slice of life genre I loved Komi san a little more than mieruko in terms of comedy and slice of life specifically. I’m surprised it won the anime of the season. However, for AOTY it has great competition. I’m personally supporting ousama ranking or Tokyo revengers but if this wins it I wouldn’t be mad cause I still loved it. |

| Quite strange. Although I love both shows and Mieruko has an extremely popular manga, I hardly saw much discussion of anime during that time. |

| Mieruko-chan won because females didn't like Mushoku Tensei (males ranked it 1st, females 10th), even though their first choice was 86. With that said, I like it. Much better than 86 and Ousama Ranking, but still not in the top 5 of the season. Probably top 20 of the year. |

| Well I'd say 'Mieruko Chan' is a good anime. I enjoyed it. But 'Mushoku Tensei' season 2 is way better than this. |

| I wouldn't give it anime of the season of autumn 2021, but it would probably take the last place in a Top 3 for the season for me after Banished from the Hero's Party I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside and Heike Monogatari. (Which is still nothing to sneeze at considering I watched and am comparing it to close to 20 other series for the season). |
