How about the increasingly popular tags in the fandom like "food / food porn", "isekai" or "borderline hentai"?

Food:
After the new genre and theme update, the equivalent of the 'food genre' has already been added, under the name 'gourmet.'

Isekai:
Similarly, the isekai theme is planned to be released with the second part of the genre and theme overhaul, as mentioned in the announcement post:
Part 2 - Themes
Coming Soon

🔜 Modify current themes: rename, remove, and add missing ones (e.g. Isekai!).

Borderline Hentai:
And finally, the 'borderline hentai' genre also has a new equivalent explicit genre, under the name 'erotica.'

As only part 1 of the overhaul has been released, there are still some genres/themes that have not been yet added. Part 2 will be adding new genres/themes that have been highly requested.

But what is the point of using not the most common names, but more general ones? If you didn't say it, I would think that erotica is just ecchi-ai, lol.

The reasons why these names are used over other ones should hopefully be more clearer once the genre definitions are released. Some tag names are simply more accurate to the series representative of it (e.g.: 'food' does not necessarily include drinks, whilst 'gourmet' does). It also prevents some tags from either being too broad or not broad enough. So, in all, I'd wait until the final part of the overhaul, when the definitions will be released, so that it is clearer why some tags are labeled a certain way.

I'm afraid this gives way too many vibes for things like "latinx" where the logic of the terms depends more on intent than actual usage. I mean, erotica almost sounds like "English for ecchi things", so that will just resurrect the shoujo ai-yuri confusion you previously solved with GL.

Which is why, hopefully, the genre definitions that will be released will help clear any confusion present with the new genres/themes. And a lot of thought is being put into this, so the logic of terms should be accurate to their actual usage.

Are you planning to accompany each genre with detailed explanations and descriptions?

Yep! That's exactly the plan. Each genre will have a clear definition, so that it is clear why each series is tagged/not tagged a certain way. These are still currently in writing, so please bear with us!
