Sad thing is, the MagiReco main cast is arguably better-written and more fleshed-out than the original main cast (at the very least, in terms of personality)... but that's in the actual gacha game, where the writers can afford to spend a lot more time to spend with them. Unfortunately, the time constraints for this anime adaptation certainly didn't those loveable characters any favors; a lot of aspects, details and quirks were lost :(
Well, duh. You cant put dozens of characters in 13 episodes and deveopl them all.
Shaft tried to do the same with Assault Lilly and failed so miserably, it resulted in (IMO) 2nd worst anime of 2020.
Honkai Impact is another gatcha game and has just a handful of very well written (in my opinion), yet still quite generic characters (Two main leads are almost identical to Symphogear's).
I still wait for an actual TV anime adaptation of this, which would work out no problem.

The thing is that the cast was actually the worst part of this show. Shitload of completely irrelevant characters wasting Screentime, which is the common problem in gatcha game adaptations. The (Funny thing is that Shaft did the same blunder layer with Assault Lily, but frwxied it up to 11)
On the contrary, original had amazing cast of characters, where each girl had their role and time to shine, so knowing that they are going to be relevant in 2nd cour makes me want to watch it.
I agree completely that the old cast is way better, I'm a fellow fan of the original😎👍 but that's why it felt so bad when the new show kept sidelining the new girls. How are we meant to care about them the same way we did the originals, if the originals keep appearing to steal the spotlight ya know?
I love seeing the old cast, with Thier returning voice actors in both dub and sub but I'd rather see them in a story about them, then having them further hijack this story🤔
