This has been on my list for a while and I see a lot of positive reviews on it. But I watched the first ep and was kind of bored. Is it worth it?

Yes it is worth watching. The first few episodes are notorious for being a bit slow but it's great trust me.

Like the person above me, this anime is very worth watching. The first half was a bit boring, but after that it got really interesting.

I would say don’t watch it if u have a low attention span bc it’s constantly slow throughout the first 12 episodes and I think you’ll just get bored of it so I would recommend u to watch it some other time bc it does change ur opinion of the show. The show is decent but if ur not into heavy dialogue and sci-fi then don’t watch it.

Steins;gate is highly rewarding. If you can't even bring up even a little willpower to watch such a masterpiece, maybe show doesn't deserve watchers like you.

If you’re expecting any action then i recommend dropping it. There’s no fights, it’s a really slow paced psychological series. If you’re not into that stuff then it ain’t for you

Why was it boring? Don't you like mysteries? Because there are a ton of mysteries already in the first episode, if you pay attention. I don't get how people find this show boring...

I really enjoyed this anime. The story is just mindblowing. However if you start watching season 2, you would think that there are things that don't make sense but trust me: At the end everything comes together. It is just a masterpeace in my eyes.

I dont understand or almost hate this kind of Questions, why judge after one episode, and if you cannot watch more then one then just dont do it

The answer is obvious, since steins gate is one of the highest rated anime on this site and has a lot of fans, almost everybody will tell you to continue ..

Honestly I don't think its particularly good. Although in anime, I think it's one of the best executions of time-traveling - but not perfect. Characters are meh.

But in the end I think it's worth watching due to its pop culture influence; it's well-known and received positively by the community. You may very well like it.

Yes it's worth watching. I never once got bored even in the first half of the show. Also watch steins gate 0 after and then there's a movie too

But like i said the most people would recommend this Anime, but on the other side you shoouldnt deepend on those opinions, cause nobody knows what kind of Anime you like

Most people who watch this show struggle to get hooked in the first half, including myself. This show requires a little bit of trust. Keep in mind, it’s not that the first half isn’t good. They take their time introducing the characters and what’s at stake, as well as creating a fun laidback atmosphere. However most people see them as sow on the first watch, which is understandable. The turning point is episode 12, and the show completely changes. Being a time travel show, there’s a lot of value in rewatching the series, because most people who do see the value in the pacing of the first 12 episodes.

This show deserves the praise, I implore you to keep watching. I recommend not skipping the opening and trying to binge watch 12-24 if you can. Just see it as a 4 hr movie.

I couldn’t keep watching it because it was so slow I thought I was going to die of boredom (exaggerating lol), but seriously, they go around the bush all the time and I couldn’t stand that. If they did that only for 3 or 4 episodes, alright, they can convince me, but it was like that for more than 10 episodes. Very boring. Of course I never watched the interesting part, so I can’t give my opinion on that, I’m sure it must be a very interesting story (at the end of the series) because a lot of people seem to like it a lot. I just didn’t have the patience to stay.

The awesome part comes in episode 13 and up (it will start at the end of episode 12), the 1st half is the Buildup, Comedy and a bit of Mystery, the 2nd half is the Thriller, Sci-Fi, Emotions, Time Travels, etc... all the good stuff you can expect from an anime, trust me the 2nd half is fucking good and this is coming from someone who found the 1st half a bit slow and boring sometimes. That being said, the 1st half was indeed necessary for the buildup because it made me bond with the characters and set some important pieces regarding plot points which is going to be used later on, without the 1st half the 2nd half wouldn't be that good to be honest so even if it was slow I will admit that it was indeed necessary.

But oh boy, Steins;Gate changes dramatically in the 2nd half and thanks to the 2nd half Steins;Gate became my favorite anime, this is a time traveling anime done right. So yeah, even if you don't enjoy the 1st half that much Steins;Gate can still end up being your favorite anime thanks to the 2nd half, it's fucking good.

One word. Yes. I was in the *EXACT* same boat you were. I thought it was boring at the first episode and legit put it down and watched other animes. Months later I came back to it and gave it another shot after some friends told me to. They told me to keep waiting as I watched. I eventually hit the point where it shifted and I’m super glad I waited. This show is god tier but you absolutely have to have the patience to get to the turning point.

I never understood how the very first episode was boring to some people(no offense OP). Surely the entire first half had some mundane moments (which I believe were great for character development & relaxation from the heavy informations & mysteries) BUT the 1st episode was very fascinating to me. I was genuinely curious to see what happens next. They even leave at a cliffhanger. There were so many unexplained stuffs that I had to watch the 2nd episode immediately. And then I had to binge watch it.
I think 'boring' is not the right word to describe the first episode. The right word would be 'confusing' & 'intriguing'. Infact the entire first half can be described as such.
...
I guess you need to be as curious as Kurisu to appreciate the first half.

Anyway, the thriller aspect of the series will come after episode 12, hope you stick around OP. Your wish.

You absolutely should! While it starts off pretty slow, as some on here have already noted, once it gets going, you'll never want to stop even long after you finished the last episode. The story, characters, and music will all start to seep into you mind in no time!
