| I see a shiton of threads either defending Gabi or hating Gabi. The problem is... there both wrong. You see there is no "good" side in war, both sides do shit that morality wise are what the majority consider "bad" Gabi didn't do anything good. The winner of the war is always the side who is shown as the good side, but in said war both sides think they are fighting for a good cause, so who would be the correct side? Neither. | Not necessarily true. War isn't always for a good cause, there is no good cause or honor in politics, and war is incited by politics between nations. This war is about Eldians being supernatural beings and a potential thread to humanity. When the power is upset between nations and becomes imbalanced that will likely lead to treaty or even war. The basic concept is that Eldians hold a power that is capable to wipe out humanity if they wish but after numerous encounters the Eldians retracted and isolated their species from humanity. Due to the past, it is a commonly held belief that Eldians are spawns of the devil and the best for humanity would be to purge their race. Now that the Eldians have learned the truth, they have decided to face their situation and fight for their freedom. However this resulted in Marley to take initiative and actively wage war against Paradis Island (although they always wanted to invade Paradis for its rich resources, but were threatened by the eldian king his million colossal titans). Now the whole world has a commonm reason to wipe out the Eldians as a threat to their own species, and the Eldians know that. Although Marley isn't in an alliance with any other nations as far as I know. There isn't really a good side in this case, both Marley and the Eldians fight for their own future. One thing to consider is their politics though. The eldians currently don't uphold any ulterior motives against humanity in general, they don't wish to kill them or eat them anymore, they only want to be left alone on their island. In contrast, Marley wants to kill every last one of them (probably same goes for marleyan eldians) because they believe it is the only way. The gamble is that perhaps others nation may join in as Eldians are supernatural beings and are a threat to any other species with naturally less power. I am not so sure how far the term "nation" is applicable to AoT verse, it seems each nation is just a big city... Churcill was right by the way, what matters in a war is what it provides. Fighting for a good cause is nice, but in a loss, none of it will matter. Winning is also not simple, because winning a war might just put the winner in a commonly bad angle in the perspective of other nations. One good example could be Eldians winning over Marley, but other nations probably wouldn't like it much and perhaps they would form a coallition to eliminate the Eldian empire before it's too late. |
