Someone plz recommend me some good sad movies and it doesn't matter if its overrated or underrated. I have seen " Your name", "i want to eat your pancreas", "Maquia", " A silent voice", "5 centimeter per second", " Ride my waves", " when marnie was there", and other movies that were good. Also it doesn't matter if its old school anime. I just feel like crying and want to watch some thing really sad.

You might enjoy Millenium Actress but personally I didn't find it that sad.

Also vouch for In This Corner of the World but I haven't seen it yet.

Sennen Joyou ("Millennium Actress") is definitely worth a watch. It has a more bittersweet than sad tone though.

I'm in sheer disbelief you never saw Grave of the Fireflies.

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya also had me bawling by the end.

edit: Sorry, only read your first post.

Sorry, didn't see them on your list.

In that case I'll recommend Chirin no Suzu. Or maybe not. Afterall, it is just a cute little baby movie about a cute sheep. Honest.

Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Tsuioku-hen

This is listed as a 4-part OVA but there is also a movie version (the so-called Director's Cut). The differences between OVA and the movie are negligible so either works. If you skip the OP/ED between the OVA's episodes it's the 99% the same thing as the movie.

Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Arata Naru Tatakai no Overture

This is a movie version of the first two episodes of the Legend of the Galactic Heroes OVA series. It's rather tragic. It's standalone so there is no obligation to continue with the rest of the series (which you would by moving directly to episode 3).

There is a 1 hr long prequel movie to this which technically isn't absolutely necessary to watch. It would add another hour to your experience (and it isn't tragic per se; it's also mostly just a couple of space battles whereas Overture has more human interest aspects (read: relationships)).

The prequel is Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Waga Yuku wa Hoshi no Taikai. If you decide to watch the prequel as well then do follow through with Overture because it (Overture) is the better quality show as well as containing the tragic part you are after. In other words, don't prejudge Overture if you happen to find Hoshi lacking in some way. Hoshi does introduce many of the main characters and has some human interest elements (mostly illustrating the corruption, backstabbing and incompetence of the senior commanders on both sides) so there actually is a bit more to it than just the two space battles I mentioned.

Grave of the Fireflies is the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to sad.
