Don't agree with everything the OP says, but I sympathize with the idea that most people in the West tend to conflate their own suffering to third world status. It's not the worst offense as a rhetorical flourish, like we get it you have it tough, but sometimes I do get the impression that people unironically contend that they have legitimate grievances to the level of someone in Tibet or some post-Soviet satellite country. This isn't to make light of anyone's suffering but the general premise that "if you have stable Internet to debate this kind of thing you're not truly suffering" is close to, if not completely, spot on.

On a tangent to the OP, I'd probably live in China before I chose Japan. China/Japan are both pretty comfy, I'd attempt both if I could, and then after that iono maybe Taiwan or Singapore. e: I'd live in Asia for my 20s/30s/40s but then move to some smaller European country like Liechtenstein when I'm nice and old.

I'm curious as to why you'd choose China before Japan? I'm not exactly sure what you mean by live in, but I'd worry that if I lived in China the government wouldn't let me leave.

I've seen him defend China on multiple threads, so he must be a commie or something.

Depends where you live, but Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou are amazing cities which rival any other metropolitan city and the twenty odd developing cities that are behind them are pretty competitive too if you can't find a spot in the top four. It wasn't this way maybe like 10-15 years ago, but they're pretty amazing places to be now.

Also, China oversees the largest mass migration in and out of the country every year, so I don't think that'd really be a problem as far as wanting to leave. If anything the fact that so many "defectors" or anti-government individuals who voice their opinion in other countries without really having much of a "I fled from despair" stories speaks to how easy it is to leave the country too, not to mention the country has tons of overseas students, nationals, and obviously families who settle down in other countries.

Also, even a lot of the suburban/less developed areas around cities like Guangzhou are really good and pretty comfortable. My family originates from around that area and my favorite restaurant is there. Beijing also has some extremely dank whiskey/cocktail lounges and a lot of things in Chinese daily life is just super dank now.

The only good thing about China is the women are more assertive than Japanese women.

Marx is neutral. Neutral neutral neutral. I can't think of anything I agree with him on but he had a really wicked beard. I'm jealous as someone who can't grow one.

There's one thing I agree with him on and that's his saying that the religion is the opiate for people.

Depends on the province. The stereotype is a lot of the women from the south are a lot more reserved and quiet.

No, but the problematic is that you assume capitalism and Marx to be the antithesis of one another.

Is this where the socialism with Chinese characteristics comes in?

Because Japan has its problems.

Such as the work culture and its geographic location. Being susceptible to natural disasters such as earth quakes and tsunamis. The people that work in Japan are overworked and low pay. They are also not very happy. And there is a high rate of suicide.

The best country in the world goes to Singapore.

Not sure if Japan is the best country but I think the people in Japan is probably the best. Their culture that 'do not bring trouble to others' is what we all should learn from.
You don't see drunk/noisy people in public transport, everyone behave well as they should. You rarely see any bar fight in Japan. You don't get harassed by some strangers in the night.
