| It is true that most of the girls like Kirito at some point in the story. But what is different about SAO from other harem shows is that it has a deep interaction between its characters, most of the time lasting for entire arcs and establishes a good relationship between them. The female characters' actions are believable and they eventually accept the canon ship. It is like having crush on MC. It can happen in real life that a guy has many crushes. When you use the word 'harem' it suggests those kind of anime where MC is indifferent towards all girls and all girls keep fighting with each other to win MC over. These kind of shows leave a bad impression because much of the show's plot revolves around these pointless events. None of the characters in these shows are believable because that is not how real people act. In the end, you can call it whatever you want as the definition of harem is not set in stone. But SAO and Monogatari series don't have harem tag here in MAL due to the same reason. |
