| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Chapter 2 of the Testimonial of Okitegami Kyouko built off of the last chapter really well with our new narrator. To summarize, now that Kyouko has solved the mystery for him, Mamoru is still left unemployed and begins to job hunt. That is when Wakui, the picture framer from the last chapter, calls him up, semi-apologizes and offers him a job in protecting his master-work. Wakui hasn't begun it yet, but this work will be a culmination of his entire career and experiences as a picture framer, and it will supplement one of his student's paintings in the Atelier House that he built and works in. So yeah there is a cliffhanger that I oddly didn't expect despite knowing NisiOisiN, but then again, you can never truly understand an oddity like him. But I swear every time I think to myself "we should ultimately treat Okitegami Kyouko as its own series, separate from Monogatari" (and while I still think that holds true), NisiOisiN throws some more hints that Kyouko is Tsubasa. I mean, she jumps over a fence without a second thought-- and even though she bounced off Mamoru Super Mario style, we don't know exactly how high the wall was, and she was able to perfectly propel her foot off of Mamoru's hands, when he was clueless as to what she was thinking. On top of that, the way she moved around the basement AND constructed that stretcher so quickly was without a doubt, something no ordinary human can easily accomplish... but then again, that seems to be a running theme with Boukyaku Tantei. To the next chapter, ahoy! P.S. I theorize that through Kyouko, Mamoru and Yakusuke will wind up meeting at some point. Maybe they will get the same job, just become friends, or both work under Kyouko, somehow. |
