They did, they were sending cease-and-desist and DMCA takedowns in the past(look it up, there is even a wikipedia article on it) but the only thing that it accomplished was even MORE overwatch porn. Then people weren't doing it only to jack off, they were doing to stick it to the man. |

Wow... *Edit After looking at their catalog of shows (at least the ones listed on this site), it wouldn't surprise me if the people in charge of the company are a bunch of dinosaurs and fossils from 15-30 years ago, and have never produced a series that anyone gave enough of a shit about to create any fan art at all. Let alone lewd fan art and doujinshi, so now they're unsure of how to handle having a series/characters so appealing to fan artists and doujinshi circles. |

Ultraman remains fairly popular in Japan and there's a solid amount of fanart as well on Twitter and Pixiv. (including weird lewds) I think more than anything, they just don't want to see doujins made that are then put up for sale. (also Tsuburaya is a studio that once supposedly donated the entire budget of a movie towards relief efforts after the 3.11 disaster, so I don't think they're hurting for public relations) |
