| yeah, i had a feeling that bell's huge insistence on creating a shelter to protect against the cold instead of continuing to stay in the treehouse had to do with his past living on pluto. from the first episode (?) when howard pointed out that bell came from pluto as a method to shame him, it just seemed like a possibly rough upbringing. great flashback, bittersweet as his dad's coworkers cheered for him after they had all laughed and refused to help. there is a parallel with how everyone else weren't willing to readily assist bell (like his father) either, were it not for luna's added existence as the mediator and leader. the temperature dropping to 70 below 0 is insane. not sure how long it took for his dad to prepare the water pipes, etc. but i'm surprised his dad wasn't killed for the heck of it. i think i'm too used to parents dropping dead in anime. bell is one of the best inherently 'good values' containing character i've seen and i'm grateful they included a character like him into the roster. you could point and identify him as the "rock" of the group. |
