No, you don't need to have seen anything else, unless you care about knowing what each mecha is a reference to.

why they always made a new series instead of a continuation from GBF and GBFT

maybe they just dont want to be trapped on shounen genre where having 100+ episode, having many filler and having only 5 minute worth of story progression on 25 min air time each week

Not really, but if you want to get the references you may watch 00, AGE and/or Build Fighters.

In episode 1 Build Divers doesn't look to have very deep connections with the other Gundam Build seasons. So far it's OK to watch it without previous knowledge.

@Radu_Bey0
00, AGE

They already have more mechas from other Gundam shows so watching only those is not necessary...but I admit that Gundam 00 is so good that it is worth to be watched in his own write.

You can pretty much watch all the Build Fighters series without seeing any other Gundam shows, you will only miss references that are there for the fans. This one also doesn't seem to have many connections to the other two BF series. I do recommend watching Build Fighters 1 first, that one is really good, I don't think any new BF will live up to it

no you don't need to finish watching BF or BFT but you should because they are quite entertaining. However it is not needed for this series as it's a stand alone series.

Also I wonder why no ever asks if they should watch Gunpla Builder Beginning G as that where most of this series got their idea from.

Hey, I had some minor questions I'd like to address regarding this specific gundam series. Firstly, I've been seeing people say it's completely standalone, meaning that other than the "Gundam Build Divers Prologue" ONA episode, nothing else at all is actually required. Helpful maybe, but in no way needed, right? I just want to make sure since there is so much to gundam and it's many series.

Secondly, I was wondering which century this series belonged to, or at least which part of the timeline it belongs to, you know what I mean. I thought it was another entry to the future century after GBF, GBF: Battlogue, GBFT, GBFT: Island wars, and GBF: GM's counterattack, though I've heard otherwise from people, and I've tried looking around already though I've yet to uncover the name, if it's even been revealed yet. Thanks in advance.

No connections with them after 3 episode, but I think they are more fun (especially season one) than Divers.

@Twileska
but in no way needed

You don't need to watch other Gundam shows to understand the story of Divers.

It looks like it's part of GBF - long after Island wars but it's no confirmed yet. No familiar characters or organizations from it.
It could be different universe with the same premise as GBF - all the other Gundam shows are part of the pop culture.
